Here in the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River,
people are stepping out of 2026
and into 1776 to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary.
Officials with the event say more
than 1,100 reenactors come out to participate,
representing over 80 different military units.
That includes two regiments that have flown over from England
and one individual who flew out all
the way from Japan. The event brings history to life in the clothing,
music, weapons, and more
utilized as part of the festival.
There is also a large-scale recreation of moments from the Battle
of White Plains. Westchester County's role
in the American Revolution was as a neutral ground and
it is particularly of interest.
We also have an American Revolutionary Trail with all of our
historical sites. So the idea is to learn
and then continue experiencing history and heritage in
Westchester County. For those of you interested,
there is off-site parking with free shuttles to
the event. For more information on that and the event going on,
you can always visit our website
