getting my tub, filter, air pump, and stone ready.
Do I use tank water or tap water? Tank water.
I have a heater also, no mask yet.
What do I do before I move the tetra?
Put the water in the tub, get the net, and catch the fish.
That's what you do.
Move the fish.
Use water from your tank.
It'll be less stressful that way.
And then you can always do water changes as you move along.

yourself alive yeah where are you uh i'm in new
orleans new orleans that's gotta be hot oh yeah yesterday it
was 119 with the heat index oh my
god yeah it's been dreadful here yeah oh we want
to try to get Lee up here i thought that would be
interesting okay yeah i'd love to see Lee
on here wouldn't be fun yes he probably he probably is
nervous about it let's see
who else is here i don't have nerves so it'll be okay
got none of them that's true man we did that yeah roy i i got
a different a different twang to my talk
Yeah, you do. Well, it's not New Orleans. What is it?
I live in Harvey, Louisiana. It's right below New Orleans.
And I actually grew up in Venice, Louisiana.
So, yeah, it's a whole new world down here.
So you're a Cajun boy? No, I'm not Cajun.
Cajun came from the middle of Louisiana. I'm a Coonass.
I have a friend, good friend, from the same area.
Not Cajun either.
Spent his childhood
Catching crayfish
Yeah
I catch crawfish all the time
Crayfish don't exist
Crawfish
Catfish Terry is here
The great Kenny
Yeah I catch crawfish and I love to eat crawfish
The bigger the better
Yeah I'm into blue crab
Crab's okay
They're just hard to pick
Well you gotta have a technique
Yeah you do
i got a technique i grew up
on Chesapeake Bay yeah i got i got i got the bay technique i just
rather go through crawfish because they're
so much easier to go through we just pop them in
half and suck them out that's right suck the head suck
the tail do you break the tip of the tail off
no you don't, no, does that come out? does that does
that just suck out, yeah it comes all out
oh if you cook them right that's the key yeah
five minutes is all it takes, five minutes
yeah whatever you're gonna cook with them you cook it all first
and five minutes you boil them
for five minutes you soak them for 20
and they come out beautiful oh guess who's here one two
three here we go check
this out come on well there he
is hello you hi hey what's going on
There he is.
Hello, Sir Father Fish.
This is lovely.
Yes, it is.
I'm delighted to see you.
I'm delighted to see you.
And Chubbs, too.
But Chubbs, put some gloves on.
Nice to see you.
And you, too, sir.
What fun we're having.
I can't do more than three, I don't think.
I'm on StreamYard.
StreamYard maxes out at three.
So anybody comes on, we're going to have to bump me off.
Stephen Bryan
well if you get somebody more interesting
you can definitely cut me off
because I'm not interesting at all
Stephen I am certified
in ichthyology
and have watched Father Fish
since he started
very smart man glad to catch
this one
Stephen Bryan
certified in ichthyology
how are you certified
Stephen, give us your
give us your creds
Maybe if I turn down the speaker
I can watch it through the computer
Sure
We will
Surely not
That's true
So Lee have you pulled that
Lee, have you pulled the template yet
I don't know what I'm doing
Me neither
We're in the same boat
What happened, am I gone
No
It's just me and Lee, I don't know what we're doing
Have you pulled the trigger yet?
Lee, can you hear me?
There's a massive delay.
It's really hard to keep up.
You can't hear me.
Let me get back over to...
I can hear you, but it's coming 20 seconds later.
Ah, got it.
Okay.
My rubbish phone.
Well, you are pretty far away.
A fair piece.
Have you moved the Tetra?
Ro says it's too hot
for a shirt.
Let's get Ro in here.
Shirtless.
No, I've not moved the Tetra yet, because Sue
and I were discussing all day, as I put all the equipment together,
do we use the fish tank water or the tap water,
and I condition it and get it to temperature.
But you said, no, go straight to the fish tank water.
So after this, that's my main project,
and I will do that, and I will get them out.
Okay.
I think we lost Chubbs.
What did he say?
we have an echo
and a message delay
say Rose here, there she
is, hey you know you look like
my daughter, well thank you I'll take
that as a compliment, just like my daughter, hello how are
you, Lee, Lee's got a delay, yeah I noticed I think you've got
an echo, someone's got their own very
well thank you darling, thank you
so much for asking how are you, I'm doing great, Lee can you
turn the volume, but that won't
help you here, though
Yeah, we're getting a background
echo from somewhere.
Someone still got the window open when I entered
the broadcast studio, probably.
A window open? That'll be me.
That'll be me.
Like Lee
Thank you, Danny Kennedy. There he went
Lee's gone.
Jobs is back.
Tim's got his shirt on
He's got his shirt on in front of his
fish tanks.
Well, all right
hey there Chubbs, how you doing bro? Pretty good, I'm sorry about
the mollies man, man look I I I sent
them today because I thought they would make it
so I don't know what to say about them, I'm I'm
disappointed and depressed
and everything else about them, well don't be, you never know they're
pretty hardy fish, they might hang
on, they might, you really you really never know because I kept
them in a gallon
jug for
eight days with
nothing and they live.
So, um...
Hi there, Lee.
I don't know where Father Fish went.
I don't know where Father Fish went,
but we just took over his
stream, so here we go.
Red's upset. He's
downstairs yelling. He's on the board,
I think. Well, I just hope the plants
make it okay, if anything.
The plants, they'll be fine.
I think the plants will be fine.
The plants should make it because the fish should make it
because I took every precaution.
I starved them for five days.
I made sure that, you know, the water was clean.
I mean, everything was great for five days.
And hopefully they make it by Monday.
Welcome back, Father Fish.
Welcome back, Father Fish.
I didn't know we could do that.
That's pretty cool.
It's fun when you can learn
on the live stream too.
It's amazing, yeah.
Let's see, who's here?
Stephen's
going to give us a class now.
Ichthyology is the study
of fish, a branch of
zoology. I work with
conservation of
freshwater fish alongside
marine fish, basically
the same thing.
in the net and a long way away across the pond
and leaves mumbling on finally yeah this is what
eat scuds oh sorry you asked me is the delay
because we're so far away and i said yeah
satellites and the atlantic and nearly
so far away that's probably why because of that
but deep blue, deep blue seas in the way.
Kenny Neon Action,
Griffin, Hey Griffin.
Dan, can you go on and type for me?
That is Terry, PetroMan1185.
So Lee has not moved his Tetra yet, which I am being adamant.
I just don't like the idea of a sick fish in the tank,
even though it seems simple.
i pulled some guppies today with neon disease
that's the worst of it ever is neon disease
no cure for it just have to dispose of the infected
i never kept neon so i
wouldn't know what
i know where chad
went well hey there
father fish you're
playing around with your uh string aren't you
well i figured there's one way to get to talk to
so we were talking the other day
um in somebody else's stream
about me needing help down here
and wanting to just shop over to somebody
and you were expressing interest i was i was i need
to come down there and check it out well that's
the key isn't it yeah down there um what are you
how far away are you driving about 10 hours 12
hours i know rick could probably answer that
better Rick, you think we're 10
or 14 hours away I know I went to Cocoa Beach and it was a 14 hour
drive but you're
well how about if I send you
a little money and get you
down here you and Rhett
and bring the bring the the clan well I can sure
do that Father Fish we're still waiting on our
income tax refund. We still haven't got it.
As soon as you do, give me a buzz.
We'll get you down here.
I will. I'll come down and we'll check it out.
I'm talking to Red about it last night.
Yeah, I think it would be perfect.
I'm excited about the possibility.
I am too.
I am too. It'd be great. It'd be a great opportunity
for me.
You said 15, 14, 15 hours?
It's 14 and that's not messing around.
That's going on.
Okay, it's 14 and that's not messing around
he said so it's a 14 hour drive from where we're at but we'll be there
bring us down there what you need oh sorry yeah
let's do it we'll do it I need to get down there and check it out
I'd like to stay I told Rhett that I could stay
with you in the shop for like
a week or two and then you know he can take the kids to the beach or do
whatever they want to do while I check out the inside of it
alright let's plan on it
I can't hear you.
I think we're talking over each other.
It's deadly hot right now.
It's just so miserable hot.
I've got a little bit of air conditioning in the office
and none in the fish room.
So it's a killer fish room.
Are you on the coast at all?
Do you get any of the breeze coming in from the Gulf Coast area or no?
A little bit sometimes.
I'm kind of in an industrial area.
so you know it's
we don't get a lot of air
I got a big thing
what I need is
the money to be able to put an AC in it
which my landlord
said he would go half on
so I'm working on that
Chubbs is
is he staring us down
he's staring us down
there he is
he just hung up on you didn't he Chubbs
it's okay though
When you have as much notice as he does, it's okay.
That's right.
When Father Fish speaks, you listen, right?
That's right.
Angel of beauty.
You guys, yeah, right.
Exactly.
Ain't no beauty left.
I want to see a picture of your daughter,
Father Fish, if I look like her.
Oh, let's see.
Look on my Facebook page.
I don't have Facebook to do that, though.
i don't have facebook i need to create
a new facebook page let's see if i can do this
brett you you're gonna enjoy all the plants i sent
and leave don't worry about joking we joke
all the time down here oh god that's all we
do we give each other a hard time what's the fun in it
if you can't what that's right you can't take a joke
then i don't know what to say that's my
My stream ain't the place to be if you can't have
a good time and take jokes
That's right.
That's right.
It'd be awful.
Let's see.
Petrol Man, I've got scuds on Get Gills, and I think Dan does,
too, if somebody wants to drop some links.
I know Father Fish has got a store on Get Gills.
I do.
Chubbs, do you?
I don't have a store.
Not yet.
Not yet.
I need to make one, but I'm not confident
in my post office to ship anything.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was going to tell you, Express seems to suck.
I always ship everything priority when I'm using USPS.
I did ship it priority today,
and it still is taking six days, if not eight.
So I have no confidence in my priority.
Maybe FedEx, maybe something else, but it's going to be more expensive.
Yeah, I've done really well with my USPS,
but I think it's because I'm more centralized, you know?
Yeah, I think it's got a lot to do with it, because a lot
of packages from the south are having trouble getting more north.
Yeah. Well, I don't know why I tried
to ship things up north before up to Detroit shrimp.
But it is still it took almost nine days to get to him
and everything was dead.
Well, I'm holding out hope. I am, too,
because I really tried hard to make sure that they made it to you.
i really packaged them in a big bag of water big bag
of air big package made sure everything was
secure and sealed and as much
as i could yeah yeah father fish if you didn't see that video
um i made sure that they had plenty of everything
and i sent her a whole whole plant planet tank of
trimmings
just to try to get it up there to her.
I've got my outside
ponds waiting for the mollies to get here.
They're wild native mollies that he
had caught, and they're beautiful. They've got
cool-looking tails. Some big
elephant mollies. Yeah.
I'm hoping they'll do all right. They are pretty
hardy, but the male,
you can only hope so much when it comes to the
male.
I only
have two mollies left here,
and one is outside and one is
inside.
i just posted a uh a link to my daughter's picture
if you can it's a it's a facebook link so i don't
know i don't know if it'll work i'll have to get off the screen
and do it father finish because i
can't even get into the comments
while i'm on here oh you're on your phone now i'm on my um computer
but if i open you up in another tab unless i mute
everything it's going to create an echo gotcha
Anyway,
let's see.
Somebody dropped a nickel on us.
Danny can get out about the six.
Well, we did four, didn't we?
Thank you, Danny.
Thank you, Cody.
Yeah, the field site's real easy
to get started.
I mean, I don't know nothing about computers, and I did it in no time.
The way he's got it set up, a kindergartner can do it.
It's super easy.
The only thing is when you're setting up your box capacity,
like how many plants you can fit into a box.
If you put one, it's going to make you send out a box for each plant.
But if you put like the box to hold 10 plants,
then a person can fill up that box.
So that's kind of tricky.
You've got to be watching that.
But other than that, you set the box capacity right,
it'll do good for you.
I loved it.
I loved it.
yeah i got several different size boxes now
so i can i can get nearly anything in one box
yeah i might have to get on now yeah it's it's
a good way to support your hobby and make a little
money on the side too if my hobby can just pay
for itself i'll be doing great you know because
every time i get an order you know the addiction kicks
in and it's like i gotta buy more fish or
You're right about that
Say hey we need to pay the electric to run these tanks
You know it's like
Yeah I wasn't thinking
But it's a nice way to get started
Yeah
Hi Steve how are you doing
Hi Steve how are you
Thanks Rhett
Yeah I've got
a little
tiny one
Yeah you have something better to look at than me
Oh they're 20 bucks
I do
Yeah you might
catch us
We're going to be out of here at 4 o'clock
About 15 minutes
She's a pretty one
Zooming by
Okay that's fine
We can do that
Alright you bet
Nice guppy
jobs
Thank you Father Fish
Pretty tank
Yeah he's got a beautiful tank
Plants are a key
it's loaded it's almost 30 different plants
in this one tank aquatic conquest says i've noticed
stem plants don't do well in my tank what is often
the reason for this well stem plants take their
nutrition from the soil
so unless your soil is enriched they're not getting enough food
And it's really that simple.
That's the function, one of the functions of a deep sand bed
is to provide adequate nutrition for stem plants
and other rooted plants.
So set your tank up deep substrate with dirt, and you'll be good to go.
Yeah, Father Fish, if you look at that center log,
it was actually a stump that was uh eaten by termites
that i broke into five different pieces
and i soaked it in water got most of the tannings out
and most of the dead uh termites out and then
soaked it in everything
and uh dried it out soaked it dried it out soaked it and then
mounted it to a slate and put it in the tank it's
a pretty piece of wood it is yeah you were
mentioning that earlier today yeah yeah that's
that is nice i like it thank you it means a lot
thanks danican those are pretty guppies yes
they are nice i have a hard time he's in the shop
it's a guppy and as a guppy guppy and endler mix
right i also have uh from formosa in here uh
these killifish oh cool yeah they
do with guppies absolutely uh what do you think about
mollies, especially
sailfin mollies,
crossbreeding with any of that?
Muppies.
Well, they're not going to cross with guppies.
No. I thought mollies
and guppies could cross.
No.
Platties.
Platties and
variatus and swords.
They'll cross.
Mollies can't.
Mollies are,
there's a Yucatan
and the sailfin.
The sailfin is Florida
and points north.
It ranges up
into the Carolinas.
It's a brackish water fish
from lakes and uh
that feed into
bays and other
tributaries.
That's what I have, the green sailfin molly.
Green sailfin, yeah.
They get pretty good size.
They get three to four inches.
I've got a big male
that Frank caught recently that's about four inches.
Hey, Susan.
That's what you're getting, Ro.
Yeah.
Anton wants to know what scuds are.
You want to tell him, Ro?
They're just freshwater invertebrates, similar to freshwater shrimp,
but much smaller, and they're a natural fish food.
They're great for fish.
My fish eat them up, but I've got an unlimited supply of scuds.
I don't actually keep a culture of them on hand
because I can get them anytime
I'm collecting them from this creek
next to my house so
I'm loaded down with them. I think that's
why I got them on sale because I can
just get them so easy.
Susan's here. Hi Susan.
Paul C wants to know
what's the best TDS for
guppies and I would say the harder
the better but they can go
TDS too.
Yeah, guppies are pretty
tolerant.
My locals sold
me what they said were guppies
but I think they're
anglers
yeah hard to tell the
difference sometimes
aquatic contest
the most
common
shallow areas of
streams rivers ponds or lakes
the depth of that
oh scuds he's talking
about
yeah they're brackish
too you get a lot of
scuds in here
in the bay
yeah i have scuds in all my systems
but they're i hardly see them but i know they're prevalent
i could see the trails in the in the substrate well
the tiny ones are going to get eaten by the
by the guppies Father Fish i'll bring you
some choice stripwood from Tennessee River
that would be nice we got a ton of it i actually filled up
the back of my truck the last time it
flooded here, and
I can get all the driftwood you
want. I've got a ton of it.
It's hard to get really nice
pieces.
Looking for it all the time.
I got a bunch of people
bringing in. Everyone says
nice tank jobs, but we
need a bigger camera.
Okay, I'm going to move you over here.
All right, what do we got here?
Oh, look at him.
Look at all the babies.
yeah over 200 of them in here wow that's
the neat thing about the Tanganyikas they're colony fish
then you can get a tank full
of babies pretty quick absolutely jolies are really nice that way
you can get jolies going they're real pretty yeah i started
a colony with eight juveniles
all eight juveniles are still alive um and they're adults
um only four juveniles are in the tank
now because they kick the rest of them out
but there are well over 200 juveniles right
now here's the problem with these guys once
the juvenile males start becoming mature
And the dominant male
Tries to chase them out of the tank
And you'll find
You'll find them hiding in the corner
Up at the top
Then you pull them out
And start a new colony
Yeah
I'm really thinking about redoing this tank
And just starting a new
Colony of something else
But my problem is
What do I do with all the babies
I don't just want to throw them away
Do you have a local fish store
that'll take them? Not all of them
at once. They only want like
10 or 20 of them at a time.
Yeah. Well, bag them up
and sell them
10 at a time.
Do a little, do
something on get kills.
Like, you know, 10 for
$25.
Something like that. Yeah, I actually
thought about selling them a dollar
a piece just to
get rid of them.
But the thing is, I can't ship
Because I can't ship nothing out because I have nothing in the lift.
Yeah, UPS charges so much, too.
They're ridiculous on their rates.
I think someone would probably have to.
There's people willing to pay the shipping, though,
Chubbs, if you want to offer, like, do FedEx.
I think FedEx has some pretty good.
I've heard good stories about.
I've heard bad stories about all of them.
I've heard good stories about all of them.
But the two that seem to get trashed the most are UPS and USPS,
in my opinion.
UPS has done well for me thus far.
There's been some issues, but none that are,
I mean, they've never lost my package.
There's one package I sent out to Lance where one bag
of shrimp were perfect and the other bag, they were all dead.
So, you know, you're going to have your flukes and stuff like that.
But if it's a habit that they keep
Trashing your shipments
Then I would definitely go with a different carrier
Or something
Yeah I need to
Figure it out
And if you can get everything in a flat rate box
That's where you'll
I try to offer
Flat rate because
People that order from me don't have to pay
An arm and a leg for shipping
I think I only charge like 20
Maybe 25 if the cold pack is needed
For shipping
and that's what i charge
but you know i don't i don't if you think about the time the energy
the stuff you've got to put in the box the you know insulation
and everything i don't pay myself
for that i probably should
but i just i don't want to do that i want to be able to make it
affordable but at the same time make enough off shipping
to keep buying the supplies for shipping
So I had to go from $15 up to $20, and I think $25 on my natives.
I ship postal service, and I bought styrofoam
boxes from a manufacturer down here in Florida,
little ones.
But the flat rate priority boxes work just fine.
And if you will use, if you get a big bag of peanuts,
you can put the fish in a bag, a double bag,
put them in a third bag with peanuts, seal the whole thing
so your triple bag, the peanuts will provide adequate insulation.
And then for this kind of weather, get some ice packs.
You can do ice in a plastic bag.
Works just fine.
And it'll last in those peanuts for well over a day, close to two days.
Long enough to get them underway.
You can usually get delivered in two days.
I've been shipping that way for years.
and it's uh i rarely well you know if i fish
the way you're doing it it's not the peanuts that are
providing insulation it's actually the air in the bag
that's isolated from the rest of the air that
is providing the insulation
because air is one of the best insulators you can get yeah yeah the
peanuts are air that's what they are air space between
the bag of the fish and the bag outside
of the air. I use
reusable ice packs. That way
whoever gets my stuff can send
other stuff out with the same ice packs. You don't have
to buy them. And my family
can get the reusable ice packs
that fit in a box about that big
for a dollar. So I'm like, oh great.
I'm going to buy them out every time they come
in. So, perfect.
But I absolutely
love the Neolampalotus bichon
eye. That was one of the first
African cichlids that
I truly fell in love with.
And that's why I decided to do my first tank.
Coming back into fish was with these guys
because my other 75-gallon tank, I had to completely redo.
And I just noticed that I have new babies on top of this rock.
I'll bet you.
Look at that.
Yeah, see him.
Nice.
teeny tiny
They are tiny.
Very cool.
And that jungle val is wild caught
For the fish
That's nice stuff
We have a strain
Of Sagittarius
We've been keeping going for years
Down here
I've got people raising it
In Outdoor Pond
I can get some Ludwigia aguagala
I think that's how I'm saying it right
And
It's by the truckload
And it gets so red when you get it
out the wild nice well you can get a lot
of the same stuff from down here in louisiana that you
can get in florida yep lee says chubbs
a very handsome man bald head grow
my wife sue says
you are beautiful oh thank you father fish
my mother still says you're a cutie oh
you ain't lying
this is the first time I'm noticing the new
babies so that is pretty awesome
yeah they're pretty tiny aren't they
that's the easiest
to breed
it really is one of the
easiest to breed the only thing I have
a problem with is the algae in the tank
which I don't think it's a problem
I just think that it's a eyesore
yeah it's not a problem
at all a deep sand bed
would cure that
yeah i have about two
and a half inches of cichlid sand i see that and uh it's really
not a problem i don't i don't suck up
my substrate i found out a long time ago that
could cause more problems than it can do good
so i don't do that but uh i just deal with the
algae because it does good
for the fish i think it provides more good than it does harm yeah it's
absolutely right big tank hank is here hey big
tank hey paul say what mineral product do you use
that's interesting a lot of them but probably
the main one i use is iron oxide iron is probably the
most important single mineral for plant growth
and it's the one that is usually the most lacking
so i just bag it up with iron oxide it takes
a long time for it to break down
but it lasts for years hey Father Fish i'm gonna hop off panel i've got
to go use the bathroom
and and i see some questions in chat i'm gonna grab
so um i'll see y'all in chat okay we're
down to four o'clock all right i'll give you yeah it's four
o'clock go ahead
yeah i use uh Seachem iron and uh i
also use uh purple up if you're familiar with that from
saltwater tanks yeah purple up
is a good good calcium substrate yeah you know and uh yeah i
use iron but i use it sparingly and i
also use uh Easy Green from uh Aquarium Co-op for all my
tanks yeah i see i'm looking at looking at your algae
growth there that's pretty tight fish love
it obviously oh yeah if you want to see some algae
growth let me move this over yeah it looks really
nice though i like it
the the blackbeard does really look good blackbeard's a nice algae it
it can be really beautiful in a tank oh yeah it can really flow i
do get some uh some string algae
and especially with the water wisteria
well, water sprite is what I got
it gets a lot of string algae
but like I said
I don't find that it harms anything
I just think it's an eyesore
Right, exactly
It's a plant
All plants are
desirable
That's right, and if you don't have enough plants to absorb
the mineral intake
or the nutrient intake
algae is going to grow
Right. Paul wants to know if iron chelate
is the same. No, it's not.
Iron chelate is actually preferable
because it's more readily available.
All right, we're going to go.
Chubbs, nice to have you here.
Nice to be with you.
That was fun.
Nice to finally see you face to face.
Likewise. Yeah, you bet. All right, well, take care, everybody.
Have a good one everybody
Sorry I have to mix y'all comments about me
Not at all
I think everybody
Lee said if we can't laugh
at ourselves what good are
Yeah
That was Neolampus Lotus Bashardai
