James Kaufman, World News Report today.
Ladies and gentlemen,
NOAA has issued a G2 geomagnetic storm warning for April 17th and 18th.
A large coronal hole, now Earth-facing,
geomagnetic storm warning issued.
We're looking for a moderate geomagnetic storm,
again for the 17th and 18th of April.
A coronal hole high-speed stream is expected to affect Earth
with increased levels of geomagnetic response.
Another large hole in the sun's atmosphere is now Earth-facing.
A large hole opened in the sun's atmosphere
and has rotated into position to be directly Earth-facing currently.
High-speed solar winds flowing from this coronal hole should arrive
and impact Earth on April 18th.
potentially sparking a G2-class geomagnetic storm.
The new moon will provide dark skies and nice canvases
for long-exposure photography of aurora borealis and aurora australis.
If you're lucky enough to capture either on film,
please email the pictures to worldnewsreporttoday,
there's two t's in there report today
at gmail.com and i'd be happy to show everyone
one evening during one
of the live shows again we're expecting geomagnetic storms
aurora borealis or australis on the 17th and 18th
and i would love pictures if anyone's able to
obtain them of any of these radiation phenomena.
You can see the coronal hole outlined here. A coronal
hole is a less dense area,
and the solar corona appear to be dark because they're cooler. Solar
winds escape from these features at higher speeds,
and they're known as high-speed streams, or HSSs.
When these HSSs arrive at Earth,
escalated geomagnetic activity results.
Let's keep an eye out.
These are not uncommon levels, obviously,
and a G2 is a fairly mild geomagnetic storm.
There could be minor manageable effects
of some technological infrastructure,
but the main thing to look for here is the aurora borealis
and aurora australis they're saying that
it might come as low as idaho here
so that should be a treat for some of us in the northern part of
the united states and canada joe don't forget
to get those cameras out the camera phones work
awesome and often the visible eye won't be able
to see the radiation whereas your camera phone will
So, if you happen to be outside, point your phone towards the north
and snap a photo and see if anything's visible.
That said, please give us a thumbs up, please share if you can,
and always remember that anything's possible in Bizarro World.
God bless you all.
