Sassafrass and Ash Bowdrill set

Alright, my good buddy Iz just did that video about his Sassafras pole drill set, and he thought he could one-up me by using cottonwood instead of an ash spindle. Let's see what that gets you, bud. But I just wanted to show it could be done, and like I said on my post, Iz could have done it too if he had an ash spindle. No problem. He's an expert pole drill man and a good woodsman, so I have no doubts he could have done it, but check it out. So I'm just going to burn in the hole right now if the notch isn't cut or anything. Oh yeah, I got my blue moose pajamas on today, so I'm sure I'll get a lot of comments on that. Pretty good. My spindle's charred. Cut the notch on the back. Notch cut using a socket, whatever you want to call it. That smoke, because I'm in my basement and there's no breeze blowing it away from me. I don't know if you guys can see that smoke. I'll get it going a little bit better. There you go. as you can see what is very hard it barely even spindle barely even dented it a little bit it's a hard ash so it's acceptable it's useful I find ash spindle works really well with any kind of wood though from soft like basswood all the way hard up to the sassafras and sycamore as well all right well just wanted to make that video and thanks for watching guys
