James Kaufman reports on a potentially dangerous near-Earth object, 2026 JH2, announced by JPL. The space rock, estimated between 75 and 90 feet in diameter, is projected to make a very close approach or potentially impact Earth on May 18th. Kaufman expresses high concern due to the object's \"condition code 9,\" indicating extreme uncertainty regarding its trajectory and size.
James Kaufman with his report today.
I am home.
Ladies and gentlemen, I tried to go live with y'all last night.
Set up at the hospital, and it just didn't go well.
They gave me too many painkillers, I'm afraid.
But we have a huge space rock.
I wanted to show y'all.
That's really where I was, by the way.
Unfortunately.
All right, we have a huge space rock that JPL announced on the 11th.
I've been out of touch for 48 hours,
unless I didn't let y'all know exactly when they announced it.
I have several days to prepare.
It's a very large rock,
and it's going to come very close to Earth if it doesn't hit Earth.
We're talking about 40,000 miles
or closer within the atmosphere for sure.
This is 2026 JH2.
2026 JH2 it's between 75 and 85 feet in diameter coming
into the inner solar system here and we'll
get a closer approach date you can see it
is at an inclination it's moving at about 9.5 kilometers
per second again it's a large rock 80 could
be 90 feet they have a condition code of nine on it
hands off they have no idea
but they have it coming very very close uh well let's take a
look exactly what day they have it coming
in uh we'll go forward here all right close approach on
may 18th so let's see if we can get there
from here it looks close close close right now they
can't see it it's like on top of us and is that
the 22nd so here's the 18th today is the 13th
and it's going to be up close
and personal much much closer to earth than the moon and one of
your bigger rocks you'll see fly by that close
at least that they tell us about Wendy I'll see
the condition code of this thing it's scary all right
this was released May 11th my apologies
again i've been busy 23 observations only it's
behind i don't know why they can't see it over
a two-day period from the 10th to the 12th it's
not the 13th no new observations look at the
condition code 9 being highly uncertain they don't know how big it
is or where it's going
that's about as bad news as they can give you especially
with 23 observations that tells me
that they think it's going to impact Earth.
It is a town killer, maybe a small town killer,
and not a city killer,
but it very well could be a lot of trouble
if it does hit a populated area.
Again, this was released on the 11th,
two days of data from the 10th to the 12th.
All right, there's some real uncertainty about this.
We've never seen anything that's uncertain.
They were only able to extrapolate the May 18th flyby,
the moon and Earth.
And you'll see the minimum distance is .0005,
which is about 40,000 miles.
But that's from the center of Earth, so you're going
to have to subtract about 4,000 for your radius of Earth.
And you're going to be down in the high 39,000, something at this rate.
But that is the minimum distance.
It is moving at about 9 to 10 kilometers per second.
The really strange part here,
it's going to first fly by the moon at 1851,
but then it gives us plus or minus 5 hours and 38 minutes.
That's the variance, i.e. they don't know exactly when.
That's a huge variance, 5 hours and 38 minutes.
So a very, very scary situation.
We would have really no idea of knowing when it was coming in.
Based on this,
it's going to come in at 11.51 a.m. on the 18th to the moon.
And then based on this, it'll come in at 3.23,
closest to Earth, on May 18th in the afternoon Central Time,
those are both central time and you can see it gets very
or could get very close to earth as
you can see here and you can
also see the kilometers per second that it's moving right there
big rock big near earth object uh a condition code
of nine my opinion is uh they think this
one's gonna hit they wouldn't have released it
with a condition code of nine they've done some
more work on it and today's
the 13th they don't think it's impacting until the uh what do we say
the 18th or 19th uh the 18th
so i would have done some more work on this very strange i only
saw it on the 10th 11th and 12th
and only 23 observations over the two day of course our ai
software caught it automatic
because no human ever catches anything whatsoever so there you have it
they're expecting a big rock 80
and 90 feet in diameter to come extremely close if not hit earth
on the 18th it is coming in at a pretty good inclination
as you can see uh it could be a
small town killer it's got a condition code of nine
which is unheard of we haven't released
the information and why have they quit trying to look at it
and lower that condition code down
i think it's because they already realize it's going
to hit now an 80 foot diameter rock is not
the end of the world but the one that blew out all
the windows in russia in the old russian town
that was only about 70 feet so an 80
or 90 foot rock can do a whole lot of damage i know that put
thousands of people in the emergency room
and it landed quite a ways out of town so this is what
we've got we've got a big near-earth object
a big space rock a big meteor hopefully not a meteorite
and it hits the ground and that'll be happening
at some point on the 18th hopefully they'll give
us a little bit better timing
in the next couple days we will keep you updated if anything here
changes but the news for the day we got a big one
coming in 2026 jh2 89 feet in diameter moving at
9 to 10 kilometers per second with an inclination
and it should come up close and personal on the
18th please make sure you share our video please make sure
that you uh have subscribed if you
have it. And always remember,
anything's possible in Bizarro World. God bless you guys.
