Spring Camp '11

That's what he was saying. He likes to drink beer for the taste. Brendan froze up. This is Brendan 83's gear. It's actually smaller than mine this time. I'm very surprised. Now this is the parking lot. Two packs, two guys. You don't know the start of it, man. This spruce plantation is pretty sweet. It makes me think I'm in Sweden or something like that. a little bit of a hill up that way and I'm gonna hang my hammock between a couple trees and get set up. I'm really liking this spot and over there trying to set up his tarp a little differently. There's my setup. My BC USA tarp with my new hammock I got from JCLMD. The Enigma with the snakeskins. They're gonna be nice and toasty and comfortable in that one tonight. Supposed to get wind up to 50 kilometers so see how the tarp holds up in that. First time setting a hammock up by myself uh slept in one a couple times but the uh one and only Iowa woodsman helped me out before I think I figured it out so I think we're gonna cook some bacon scog knife style and obviously get a fire going how you doing Brendan you change your spot nice Brendan's using his rain fly from his tarp or from his tent as a tarp and a little ground pad what one is this What is this the name of this one that is Gransforsbruk mini something axe This is a small one anyways, you know wear it on your belt I'll slice your paracord in half there I made up my my twig bundle And I you actually got to use a spruce root for lashing this time I split it down the middle like you've seen Ray Mears do and I'm sure a lot of other people do It splits really easy and actually holds really well Oh, it's easy to work with. I'm pretty impressed with it. Looking around. Well, we got that fire going using birch bark and pine sap. That's a special one for you, Iz. Hell of a lot of gumption. What's that? A hell of a lot of gumption. It's got our bacon on scog knife style. I've never done this before, but I've seen it on his videos. I'm hoping we do it right. It's nice and drippy right now, so I think it's cooking good. Drippy bacon. The sun's just gotten down about five minutes ago, we're out gathering a little bit more wood before it gets too dark. I got some pine needles for my pine needle tea. It's the morning now, got a good night's sleep in the hammock. Actually the best night's sleep I've had in the bush for a while. Got my 26 inch Wetterlings with me of destruction. Our littered campsite, bush chair. This is a tributary of the Thames River and it is up really high right now because of obviously spring melt and a lot of rain as of late. It's really moving. All right, so this is the Hennessy hammock when the snakeskins are on it's pretty cool design makes packing up really easy Just slide them right on they never come off. You just slide them back and then slide them on to it again My little bit of gear and just getting packed up now real bit of Sun in two days pretty nice place here Well like just outside of the city and feels like we're a lot farther out
