What is it really like to live modern life the old-fashioned way? In rural Wales, James has created an extraordinary home and traditional smallholding inspired by the past while still living and working very much in 2026. And we dear viewers are invited for a look around. This is not a museum or a film set, this is a real lived in home.

In this week's video, I'm invited inside James's fascinating vintage home, filled with antique furniture, Victorian and early 20th-century objects and the things he uses as part of everyday life.

Outside, James has around ten acres where he keeps an extraordinary collection of animals including Jersey cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, peacocks and rheas. He also grows vegetables using traditional methods, keeps bees and produces his own honey.

This isn't a museum, a film set or an attempt to pretend the modern world doesn't exist. James knows very well that it's 2026. Instead, he has chosen to incorporate the traditions, skills and objects he loves into an otherwise modern life. A beautiful and fascinating person I can't wait for you to meet him.

We tour his home and smallholding, talk about vintage living and discover why James has chosen this unusual way of life as well as his hope of connecting with other people in the vintage, historical and re-enactment communities.
