Video Summary
AI GeneratedAn inspector investigates a ceiling leak in an attic and discovers that condensation is forming on the ductwork. The issue is exacerbated by a lack of ceiling insulation in the affected room, allowing water to drip directly onto the drywall rather than evaporating.
Hey guys in this one we're going in an attic
to investigate water dripping on the ceiling.
The maintenance man has already been up there
and told me that there's some uninsulated duct work so
let's go
see what we
find. This
is going
to be this
is going
to be tight.
Where we're
going is
not
even
on this
part
of the
house
it's
over
there.
They
also
had a a
branch
that
forgive
me I gotta look for a place to step.
All right that's where I'm headed over there that hole
but
this
branch
right
here
has no
airflow
it
looks
like
it's
wide
open
all
right
we
gotta
figure out
a way to get
over there 24
inch centers
and i got
to straddle
this to get
over there
right so
it looks
like
all the
living
space
is not
insulated
that
right
there
looks
like
my water
spot i
don't see
where
something's
not
insulated
that's
not all
they're
very
good oh
my word i
really
don't
want to
okay the
bottom
of that
plenum
is wet hmm
and so
that that
could use
another Panduit strap maybe some
tape but honestly i think that
soaking wet through here to just to
rewrap wrap over the top of that would help this
attic is vented and i can imagine it gets really
hot up here
in a wet spot
this is wet all
the way to here
well i know
what it needs
it's gonna be
difficult to do it
but i know what it
means you know if that
that ceiling was well
insulated with
this
stuff
they
probably
would
not
even
notice
that
it's
wetting
it's
wet
too
soaking
wet
so
in the end on that one i recommended short term
for them to go in and insulate that room
insulate the blow-in insulation or um just take some bags up there
and make sure there's insulation
on all of the ceiling where there's no insulation
that's really the only difference between that
room and all the other rooms where the duct work
is wet it's dripping down on the insulation and
evaporating before it gets to the drywall
but in that room there's no insulation there that's
really the only difference i did tell them to do that in the short term
and i recommended
rewrapping on top of the duct on top
of the insulation that's there now rewrapping that so
we'll see how much gets done the maintenance man really did
not want to go back up in the attic but
i don't normally insulate attics we'll see what happens thanks
for watching i'll catch you on the
next one
