5 Yankees TRADE TARGETS This Offseason
Oct 24, 2026
The Yankees had two players with at least
a .330 on-base percentage or higher.
That was Cody Bellinger and Ben Rice.
They had three players with at least a 260 batting average or higher.
That was Luis Garcia Jr., Cody Bellinger, and Ben Rice.
Now, when accounting for Luis Garcia's numbers for the Yankees
in only those few months he was there, he hit .264.
Overall, in the season between his time
with the Yankees and the Nationals,
he hit .277 but we're only counting his time with the Yankees
which with the Yankees in those few
months he hit .264 and there was only one Yankee
who had an .800 OPS or higher and that was Ben
Rice now I'm not counting Aaron Judge he was out for most of the season
so I'm not counting him
if you do include him he had an .871 OPS a .360
on base percentage if you add him to this lineup
along with one or two pieces that we're going
to discuss here in this video it's going to make this
Yankee lineup a lot better like
a lot better let me know what you guys think down in the comments
hit that like button and subscribe
if you haven't already it's free this is the place to be if you
love the New York Yankees
but we're going to start off here our first trade target Milwaukee
Brewers center fielder Garrett Mitchell now Mitchell hit .262
so if he was on the Yankees
he'd finish fourth in batting average .354
on base percentage with a .771 OPS now that .771 OPS would
rank outside not including Aaron Judge would rank second
on the Yankees second behind Ben Rice and
this on base percentage would rank second
on the Yankees once again behind Ben Rice Garrett Mitchell
tremendous defensive center fielder yes he's a left-handed bat
but if you were to go get Garrett
Mitchell and if he were to be made available
and you could get him you would probably I would think
have to include Spencer Jones in a Garrett Mitchell trade
and that's a left-handed bat right there
who would have been your center fielder if you don't get one
so the argument Mitchell oh he's
a left-handed bat we have enough of those Jones would have
been your center fielder then if you
kept him if you don't go out and get a guy like Garrett Mitchell
so you're just replacing Mitchell
uh Spencer Jones rather with Garrett Mitchell
and he's an upgrade also strikes out a lot too
can't forget that but Mitchell very good center fielder hit .262 got
on base almost 36 percent of
the time .771 OPS if Milwaukee makes him available
because he's gonna get a pretty good raise
this offseason through arbitration he only has two more years
of control i think the Yankees should
most certainly jump on it now the next one we talked about him before
and i'm going to bring
him up again Xavier Edwards this guy fits
on this team he's okay defensively he's not terrible but
he's not the best born in New York by the way
so that's kind of cool he hit .280 he would have had
the best batting average on the Yankees
with a .280 average .360 on base percentage now .730 OPS
you're not getting him for power you're getting him strictly
for his on base and his batting
average 21 stolen bases very good too
but as I said you're getting a guy who could put the bat
in the ball doesn't strike out all
that much I had like 80 something strikeouts this season 360 on
base percentage that's what you're doing you're getting guys put
the bat in the ball at least
more than the guys that you have now or that you had
and Mitchell fits that, Xavier Edwards fits
that and both guys get
on base Xavier Edwards switch hitter under team control I believe for
three more seasons after this one if I'm the Yankees
and if he's available and the Yankees
have had interest in him in the past as most recent
as this past trade deadline go out get
Xavier Edwards if it's possible if the price
is reasonable now I don't know if I would trade
Carlos LeGrandhon for him but maybe you
do because LeGrandhon did get hurt and maybe he's a ticking
time bomb I'm not saying he is just saying maybe he could
be then you might want to sell high on
him now for a guy like Xavier Edwards
and I as I said Xavier fits this Yankee lineup imagine if
you put him or Mitchell in front of Judge in front
of Rice I mean they need guys to drive in their
runs batted in will jump and Xavier Edwards
his runs scored will jump too both guys are a good
fit now we're gonna go check out X
this is from Yankees worldwide congratulations to them for
launching this brand,
but potential trade candidates who could be traded before this
year's lockout, according to Robert Murray,
William Contreras, probably not going to happen
because he doesn't want to play in New York
because of the taxes. That's what he said.
Now, Jeremy Pena, Stephen Kwan, CJ Abrams,
Zach Neto, and Reed Detmers. I think the Yankees
should target at least three guys on here, at least three guys.
And we're going to start off
with Stephen Kwan now Kwan he's a free agent
at the end of the 2027 season he hit .282 so he would
have led the Yankees in batting average 80 runs scored
do you know why he gets on base gets on
base 38% of the time .382 on base percentage would have led the team
and on base percentage he's a
guy that if Cleveland does make available like
Robert says you go out and you get him another
very good defender now the scary thing
is about him basically operating on a one-year deal on a
one-year deal so if you trade a Spencer Jones
for Stephen Kwan you're risking it right because
you have Spencer Jones
who did show signs of good offense solid offense now the defense
defense leaves a little bit to be desired.
I was a bit disappointed by him defensively. And for
people who would rather want him on the corners rather than center,
I think he's a better center
fielder. However, just overall, he struggled defensively.
But if you could grab a guy like
Stephen Kwan and then hopefully sign him when he becomes a free agent,
he helps you in a lot of
ways defensively and he gets on base and he gets hits.
Let's go check out his strikeouts. 62
strikeouts. He doesn't strike out another great fit
for this Yankee team, a team who struggles
with fundamentals.
Guys like Garrett Mitchell, Stephen Kwan, they don't.
Now, here's another
name, and you would get him because he hits.
He stinks defensively, no offense, but you would get
him because of his bat, and that's it. He went in DH.
You would still play him in the field,
probably at second base of course i'm talking
about CJ Abrams now he might be the most expensive
one on this list through a trade
but Abrams no doubt he would be a top offensive player here
on the Yankees 33 home runs hit 261 drove
in over 100 scored 93 times stole 30 bases he's a 30 30
guy 336 on base percentage but look at this OPS
and 834 OPS because he slugs and he gets on base
33 percent of the time 34 right he gets on base
and even though it's kind of on the lower end he
would still be in the top three
and on base percentage on the Yankees still and he's a
left-handed bat okay fine if that scares you that scares you
but hit 261 slug 33 homers
drove in 106 runs stole bases 330 on base
percentage 834 OPS depends what you would have
to move he's gonna be the most expensive
but if he's made available the Yankees have to at least
at least ask Washington what they would want
for CJ Abrams there was a little bit of rumblings at
the deadline about Abrams and the Yankees
so we'll see if they revisit this over the offseason
but Abrams once again would provide thump in this Yankee lineup
and was this a breakout year for him
Sure, sure it was, but still a very good baseball player
with a few more years of control now the
next name we're going to talk about
and a lot of you aren't going to like this but you saw his name
on that list, Jeremy Pena. Now he had a down year
defensively still very fast, Pena right-handed bat
due to be a free agent at the end
of the 2027 season, hit .277, 22 homers, scored 82 times. His on
base is on the lower end but look at the OPS
in .802 OPS, so if if you're not gonna give me
a .360, a .350 on base percentage, at least give me an .800 OPS
because that tells me that you slug
that tells me that you get extra base hits
and that's Jeremy Pena, that's him, he hits for power
and this lineup surprisingly needs a little bit
of that, look at the numbers, it's right in front
of us, they need guys who could of course get on base
but guys who could slug a little bit too
and who could have an .800 OPS
because there was only one Yankee this season with an .800 OPS and
that was Ben Rice. That's it.
so go out and if you add a guy like a Jeremy Pena, CJ Abrams,
even though they're on the other side
of the defensive spectrum that we've been talking about,
I still think they would be upgrades in this Yankee lineup.
Now, when talking about these
trade targets, I'm not saying for the Yankees to get all five.
It's one or maybe two if you can,
But in an ideal world, you get one, you sign somebody else,
So whether that's you trade for a guy like Stephen Kwan,
Garrett Mitchell, and you sign
in a rise, okay?
Or you sign in a Randy Rosarania,
who had a fantastic season with Seattle.
You sign him, and then you trade for an Xavier Edwards
or a CJ Abrams and Jeremy Pena.
you have to figure out a way to add two offensive players
to this lineup because guys i know a lot
of you don't want Austin Wells
and Austin Wells this season was a down year for him hit .186
with a .624 OPS but you also have to understand
his second half was very strong he finished with
over a .780 OPS in the second half
of the season he hit much better in the second half so i think
the Yankees are going to ride that maybe they add
a right-handed hitting catcher they probably will
and they I think they should and who that will be remains to be seen
but those wanting to upgrade
the catching position I get it I understand I'm
not saying the Yankees shouldn't but the Yankee
front office is going to look
at Austin Wells's second half performance and it was pretty strong
offensively and defensively of course
but guys listen let me know what you think down the
comments i want to know year five free agent targets for the Yankees
or trade targets rather
for the yankees this video is kind of long
so i'm stumbling over my words a tiny bit but guys listen
thank you so much for watching i'll see you next time take care
