Baby,
how
about
it?
If you're a Bears fan, you've got to love sports.
That was the most amazing
and inspiring victory the Chicago Bears have had in a very long time.
And when I say a long time,
I'm talking about from the quarterback position ever.
The Chicago Bears, for the first time in franchise history,
if you didn't know, now you know, have a star quarterback.
And when you looked at Caleb Williams last night,
the numbers, unbelievable.
The field, even better.
I'm going to tell you what Caleb Williams reminded me of,
who Caleb Williams reminded me of, Aaron Rodgers.
You see the tight window throws last night.
You see the ability to throw missiles
in the perfect spot to his targets
and out of harm's way where the defenders can't reach him,
The back shoulder throws.
He has now put touch on his fastball.
This is watching something special.
Caleb Williams is a superstar.
Missed three games with a hamstring injury.
He comes back.
He dominates the Atlanta Falcons.
Throws for over 300 yards.
He completes in that game over 80% of his passes.
And then somehow, someway against better competition, short week,
he is even better and more majestic last night going up against
the New England Patriots.
That was a high level sporting event. Great quarterback play.
Drake May, Caleb Williams. May had the one red zone pick.
Other than that, he was fabulous. But the story was Caleb.
And the fact that the Bears won this game around their quarterback
because of their quarterback,
because of the quarterback and the head coach play caller,
Ben Johnson, and what Ben Johnson has done making Caleb Williams
into a superstar quarterback, that's unbelievable stuff.
And how about the way Caleb distributed the ball?
I mean, the playmakers were unbelievable last night.
Luther Burden.
I mean, look at that.
Four targets, four catches.
That's pitching the perfect game.
130 yards, that touchdown.
Colston Loveland.
He was reborn when Williams came back against Atlanta.
You saw him last night.
Seven catches, 69 yards.
That was incredible and a touchdown.
And hey, a Rome Odunze signing.
He's kind of been a bit of a disappointment.
I thought he was going to be fabulous
when they drafted him in the first round with Caleb a couple years ago.
It hasn't been the case.
Rome Odunze needed that tough clutch.
He was excellent.
DeAndre Swift ran the ball with authority, gave Caleb Williams balance.
And what I loved, and you're always looking for signs here,
the Bears dealt with adversity.
I mean, even at the end of the game, right?
That final drive, 27-21,
and the Bears are trying to wind the clock down.
and the one thing they couldn't do on third
and five on the Patriots 30 and I personally want to
run the ball Ben Johnson there's a pass calls
a pass play you can't take a sack Caleb Williams
gets sacked okay all right sucks they're gonna have
to punt he trots the field goal unit on
no hesitation bam Santos from 58 I don't even think any
of it made sense but it works and
There's just something beautiful and special
and confident about this football team.
And last year, they were able to make the playoffs, to win a division.
They lose the divisional round.
And now, I think they're going to win the division.
I think they're going to be better than
Minnesota when it's all said and done.
I picked them preseason here on Showtime
to win the ultra-competitive.
You see the standings on the record right here.
The NFC North.
And listen, I think the Bears have real championship Sunday vibes.
And a sign of a great team, a championship team,
it's a game like last night.
Brilliantly coached with Ben Johnson.
They have a star quarterback.
The weapons come to play.
But they deal with in-game adversity.
That sequence I mentioned at the end of the game,
which again, I thought was a bit confusing and wrong and chaotic.
It doesn't matter what I think or you think or Bears fans
or the media elite or the Twitter tough guys.
The Bears rocked it. End of the first half was wild, right?
You know, that little dump off from
May to Stevenson. Dennis Allen,
the Bears defensive coordinator, sending six guys.
Didn't make any sense. Made zero sense.
And that end of the first half gave Matt Eberflus kind of
vibes. Then they get the ball, start the second half,
touchdown drive from Caleb Williams.
Saves the entire thing. So that was unbelievable.
Look, this division's going to be tough. I really
think that it's unbelievable, and
the Bears are
certainly going to be eyeing the Lions
and the Packers coming up on
Sunday on Fox, and that's
going to be a terrific, terrific game.
But I think not only are the
Chicago Bears the best team in
the division, they are one of the
best teams in the NFL.
I know what the record says, and it's
excellent of 5-2. I think they're even
better than that. You've got to factor in the Caleb
Williams injury, and let me tell you something.
This is the most inspiring
Bear team since Ditka led them to the championship in 85.
Because they have the best, most talented
quarterback they've ever had in franchise history.
A head coach who is so smart, so calculated. His
players love him. Even when there's a problem,
they have the unbelievable foundation and formula
to fix it. There's something special right now going
on with the Chicago Bears. Here are the
rest of our picks for week number seven
in the National Football League. I said last week I was
very concerned about these spreads.
Honestly other than San Francisco Atlanta you see I'm going with
the Niners. I did not hesitate on any of these.
Love the Carolina Panthers. Love the Cleveland
Browns. Yeah we're going to continue to roll here
with the Denver Broncos even though at the end of
Today, I don't trust Bo Nix as far as I can throw.
Fakes.
Maxie's open.
Indeed, shoots it and scores.
Sixers take the lead.
Their first lead of the night.
So many big plays here in the second half from the Sixers.
It was everything that I dreamed of and more.
Got the boos.
That was amazing.
We deserved it.
And then we got the cheers
and almost blew the roof off this thing tonight,
you know, in a good way.
So, that was a hell of a night.
That was one of the most unbelievable sporting events
in terms of what it was and what it means big picture
I've ever seen in all my years watching regular season basketball.
Like, I know it's game two of a season.
That matters.
And if you're a fan of the Philadelphia 76ers,
don't make any plans in June.
just keep the whole month open
because we're talking about a team that can absolutely win
a championship listen and I say this as a Knicks fan
when the Sixers put this team together we said
listen they're going to be unbelievable all the parts
and the pieces fit and I expected them to
beat the Knicks on banner night and they did
and then I'm watching the game last night and Cleveland
and stunningly is destroying the 76ers.
And it's like, all right, that stinks, and the fans are booing,
and it just wasn't going to be the Sixers night,
and I was dead wrong, and Cleveland's rocking.
That was the greatest comeback in the history of LeBron James.
29 points.
The greatest deficit a LeBron James team has ever eradicated.
That's unreal.
And to do that in the home opener for him in Philadelphia,
first time he's worn the home Philly uniform, that's perfect.
That is believability.
That's credibility.
And to do it against Cleveland, Mr. Akron, Mr. Cleveland,
I mean, that's perfect and poetic,
and it's everything, and it's a sign.
And we talked about it on Shine Time,
why signing in Philly makes all the sense in the world for LeBron.
And I just love what Philadelphia was able to do.
Because, look, I'm on record and I was right.
I think Joel Embiid's a losing ball player.
They know it, too.
The process is dead.
The process never existed,
but it's really dead when they bring in guys like James and
they bring in guys like Brown.
And look at this.
Just look at the stats here, right?
Get used to this.
Tyrese Maxey's the best player on the team.
Tyrese Maxey is an unbelievable winner.
He's an unbelievable bucket getter.
Great energy.
He told the press after, told ESPN, the game was on ESPN.
He was the one who told his team, I'm challenging you.
We're not going out like this.
He was the one, not LeBron, not Jalen Brown,
who gave the fiery halftime speech.
And it's awesome.
Maxey, he's the best player on the team.
Jalen Brown has a chip on his shoulder.
He also has a chip.
Like, that's why he was perfect.
Joel Embiid, I was curious to see because he's been such a, you know,
Doesn't want to play, doesn't want to do back-to-backs, always hurt,
trust the process, losing's okay.
Joel Embiid's buying in.
He was remarkable.
And James, one of the great players,
one of the great winners in the history of the NBA.
And it's a perfect fit.
And not to mention the fifth guy on that board, VJ Edgecombe,
a phenomenal second-year player
who had a great rookie season in Philly.
Nick Nurse is a championship coach.
If you're a Knicks fan watching this, you just have to realize,
Philadelphia is better than New York.
And I picked Philly to have the most wins
and get the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.
I picked the Knicks as a three seed to win the East.
Listen, it's not going to be an easy road or easy for any team
beating Philly in Philly.
And by the way, I'm not an idiot.
Like, we're two games into the season.
It's not like I'm, you know, moving ahead to the playoffs here
and you have to worry about age and health
and everything that goes into the mix.
This Sixers team is everything you want in a championship squad.
Like, if I didn't hate the Sixers,
and I hate the Sixers, I'd love these Sixers.
This is a terrific mix, a terrific blend.
Max is one of my favorite players in sports.
The fact that they came back and LeBron did it against Cleveland,
a lot of people took the cheese I did
on him going back to Cleveland for a third time.
I mean, the Cavs are going nowhere.
You think Kenny Atkinson, you know, according to analytics,
thinks he won that game?
I mean, please, beg it, loser.
I love what I saw from Philadelphia
in terms of that they won, how they won.
They turned the boos into cheers.
Unbelievable stuff when you take a look at it from a Sixers standpoint.
And if you were curious how the pieces were going to fit,
what the effort and energy was going to look like,
now you have your proof.
To the defending champs, where have you gone, Mr. Robinson?
To the Celtics!
Knicks are going to see Mitch for the
first time since they won the chip,
and everybody's talking about it.
You're excited for anybody that's able to help their situation
or family, you know, in life.
And, you know, Boston gave him a nice deal.
And so, you know, you want nothing but the best for him
because you know him and he's a great, great, great freaking dude.
But you want to beat him, you know, at the end of the day.
So it's going to be exciting to see him
because of the type of person he is.
and what we all went through together last year.
But at the end of the day,
we want to kick his ass like he probably wants to kick ours.
Were you able to watch the ring ceremony the other night?
Did you have a time to get on Friday?
I didn't watch it.
I mean, again, that was still stuck in my head from last year.
So, still, I mean, I'm proud of those guys.
I mean, obviously, I was a part of it.
And, you know, they just didn't really want to watch it.
So Mitchell Robinson going to Boston made me nauseous.
It made me gag.
It makes me throw up in my mouth.
Because Mitchell Robinson was such a winning, tough, clutch warrior,
instrumental on the greatest championship I've seen in my life.
And he was the longest tenured Knick and meant so much.
And all Knicks fans loved him.
and he deserves to be celebrated
he deserves the accolades
when the Celtics go to
New York, he will get
an incredible video tribute, he'll get
his ring, it will be an amazing
moment and here's to you
Mr. Robinson, like
absolutely, he deserves all the
love and the accolades, seeing him in a
Celtics uniform makes me queasy
makes me sick, but I
understand why Mitch took the bag
I get it, and frankly
for who he is and what he does.
Celtics grossly overpaid.
It doesn't mean I don't appreciate him as a Knick.
I mean, that contract is crazy.
No one else in the league was offering him that.
Plus, with Mitch, and I love him,
have to factor in injuries.
You heard on the clip right there,
he said he was still inside his head from the first game.
He got a little nicked in the first game.
He'll be ready to go tonight.
Andre Drummond for this year's Knicks might be better.
And I love Andre Drummond.
And you saw what he did in the first game.
and he is a terrific rebounder and he is terrific
when it comes to putting the ball in the bucket
he's an older statesman he's not as great as Mitch's in any way shape
or form on defense did
block a couple of shots against the Sixers
on on opening night i don't think this is a downgrade
in any way shape or form
and we've talked about that in real time it's not an overreaction to
Andre Drummond in game number one against Philadelphia.
Here's what I do think is important, right?
Because ring night was emotional.
You heard me on shot time.
I picked Philly to win that game.
This is obviously the Mitch, hello, Mitch reunion game.
You know what I'd like to see the Knicks do tonight?
Win.
It's game two.
I'm not panicking after game one.
I expect the Philadelphia to win.
I think the way Jalen Brunson rallied everyone,
focused everyone after the loss,
You know, celebrate, validate, stamp it.
Now it's off to 2026, 2027 season.
Now it's moving it forward.
So I think that this is a spot where the Knicks are the better team
compared and contrast to the Boston Celtics.
Jalen Brown's not walking through that door.
There's no way Paul George, who scored 38 in the last game,
there's no way he does that again.
Jason Tatum was invisible when the Celtics collapsed in Detroit.
I just want to see the Knicks win.
By the way, there's some Knicks news.
Dalton Connect, who I loved at Tennessee, loved him as a Laker,
and then they put him in that failed Mark Williams deal,
and then everything spiraled, and he couldn't get it together again.
There was no more trust.
Knicks are signing him.
I'm going to tell you right here,
right now, because we'll play this back.
It's going to be a terrific move.
I love this kid.
I think they should have never traded him in the first place.
I wish that the Mark Williams deal didn't fail,
and they should have never flunked that physical in L.A.
I think this has flyer potential.
The Knicks were reportedly aggressive
in trying to get him once he cleared waivers.
I think this is a terrific, terrific move.
Look, I think the Knicks are going to be excellent.
I think tonight is going to be the first win
that they'll have since they raised the banner,
since they won the championship.
I think Boston is a weak team compared and contrast to the Knicks.
Jalen Brunson is going to be the best player on the floor tonight.
he's going to go off. You could thank Mitch for all the memories.
You could remember the blocks,
the rebounds, everything.
We'll give him a video tribute when he's in New York.
But here's to you, Mr. Robinson. Now we're going to kick your ass.
Ah, yes. Football Friday. Time right now for Shines Lines.
We had our worst week of the year
last week. Five and nine.
But still, as you see, very much on the right side of history,
picking games against the spread for the year.
Our guest picker this week needs no introduction.
He is the face of the IFL.
He is the critically acclaimed host of America's most entertaining
and popular national sports radio morning show, Babs and the Boss.
He is also the incredible host
of Babchick's Morning After.
He is a Melinda's Hot Sauce enthusiast. He is our great friend's
and Mad Dog Sports Radio superstar, the great Mike Babcheck.
Babs, how are you?
Oh, fantastic.
I don't like hearing about you coming off the worst week,
but at least you're finally admitting it, you know?
It's been years and years.
You're ready now.
You embrace the flaws, and I love that about you.
I think you learned from me.
I'm nothing but one giant flaw, but yet continue to fail up in life.
So I'm happy to be here, and let's make it happen.
Let's make it rain.
I'm excited.
J.J. McCarthy and the Giants,
they are in Houston to take on the Texans.
You've been talking about this story
with J.J. McCarthy on Babs and the Boss
on Mad Dog Sports Radio all week long.
The Texans are favored by 10.5.
Michael, take your pick.
Yeah, this is one of these games where it's like,
oh, my God, that line's ridiculous.
That line's almost too big.
This is too easy, right?
It's J.J. He looked good in that fourth quarter.
Was it the Saints in that defense that just let up,
or did J.J. actually have the spark?
Ten and a half is too much for a team that was 0-4, right?
Texans finally get it together, win two games.
But that line is wild.
That's an easy one, right?
Giants plus ten and a half, and that's why you go offense.
And the Texans will win this game by more than ten and a half.
This spread will come true.
There's a reason why we get these spreads correct.
This one, even though I like the Giants,
I like the Giants to win the NFC East,
but they'll do it under .500.
I do like the Giants.
I think J.J.'s going to be better than Winston.
But I'm going to ride the Texans' defense
to unsettle J.J. McCarthy in his first start.
And even though the line looks nuts,
it's exactly why you go against your instincts
and go minus ten and a half.
I mean, that was a wild ride getting there
and laying the ten and a half with Houston.
That's what makes you amazing.
Listen, I'm going to stick with the first part of your logic.
I'm taking the Giants.
I'm grabbing the points.
Listen, I think J.J. McCarthy absolutely
is the right guy at the right time.
You know, I thought the Texans' defense would be the best in the league
before the season.
Wasn't even close on that prediction.
To your brilliant point, I like Houston to win the game.
Ten and a half is too much.
I think Harbaugh's an unbelievable coach.
Big game for Malik Nabers.
I'll grab the points here with the Giants.
Your Jets, Babs, at home, favored by four and a half points
against the winless Miami Dolphins.
Take your pick.
Adam, you don't trust the Jets.
I mean, I sat through a rainy game in the Browns,
and I regret it every second of it.
I regret it every time I walk into MetLife as a Jets fan.
You just don't do it.
You know, you're thinking, oh, the Dolphins are terrible.
The Jets' defense is good.
They'll win this game.
Four and a half.
No, don't trust them.
Don't pick them ever.
If Aaron Glenn doesn't know who gets the ball at halftime,
why should I believe they beat even a bad team in the Dolphins?
I think the Dolphins, maybe they win by a field goal, the Jets,
but the Dolphins, go ahead and give me that four and a half.
I will roll with Miami and go against my team because I know my team.
So you are a diehard Jets fan.
You go to every single home game.
They have had Mike Belichick appreciation game.
I understand all of that.
I think, and feel free to quote this back to me,
I think the Jets are the best bet of the week.
I'm going to lay the four and a half with the Jets.
And I understand Aaron Glenn has never won a game
as a head coach of the Jets in the AFC East.
I understand that.
The Miami Dolphins haven't had a lead all season long.
Not one moment, not one second where they've had
a lead on the scoreboard.
I see a monster game for Geno Smith, monster game for Garrett Wilson.
Jets' defense is pretty good.
Line is legit.
I think Allen can run the ball.
I don't think Miami wants to win.
I think they're going for the number one pick in the draft.
Can't believe I'm saying it.
Oh, I love the Jets, Mike.
I love them this week.
What are you doing?
I will not let you live this down. I'm bouncing to Boston.
And, of course, that leads in, what will lead in, to Shine On Sports.
And I will not let you live it down.
For you to say that the Jets are the best anything is wrong.
And I will never forget it.
You can mark the tape.
Oh, boy.
This better work out for me.
Otherwise, it's going to be a long week, a long week for us.
Rams, laying four and a half.
against the Raiders in Vegas.
Who you got?
Yeah, I want to do the Rams.
I want to believe in the Rams.
I really do.
I want them to come back and be in the playoffs.
The two and four, I can't write them off just yet.
But Sean McVay, each and every week, it's the same story.
He just goes to the podium and hands off accountability.
I'm sorry.
It's on me.
It's on me.
Eventually, the players go, you know what?
It is on you.
It's not on us anymore.
He's almost taking too much accountability.
I'm a guy who never takes any accountability.
So I am kind of down on Sean McVay for not doing the Belichick,
which is passing the buck and pointing the finger.
That's just a better way to do it.
I like the Raiders.
Maybe they can cover this game.
Maybe the Rams still barely win with a brand-new kicker.
But I think the Raiders are actually headed to the playoffs.
For that to happen, you're going to have to play some tight football.
You might even have to win a game.
I am not ready.
Even though I think the Rams might
turn around eventually, just not yet.
I'll go with the Raiders, even though I want to go with the Rams.
Listen, I love the Rams last week, so I give you that for perspective.
I love the Rams this week.
I mean, at some point, they have to look like the team
that we thought we were going to witness
at the beginning of the season.
I'm with you on McVay's press conferences.
You know I love Sean McVay.
I think Stafford has a big game.
That Raider defense has been torched in the last few weeks,
so I'll lay the four and a half here with the L.A. Rams.
Now, I know you.
We've been friends, co-workers, colleagues for a long time.
You love revenge.
You absolutely hold a grudge.
You will not forget a thing if anyone ever wronged you
in any way, shape, or form.
With that as a backdrop.
It's the Kenneth Walker revenge game.
Seahawks at home, favored by two and a half points,
facing Kenneth Walker and the Chiefs.
Take your pick.
Well, I'm riding with Kenneth Walker, and it's revenge, the theme.
Sam Darnold, he wronged me.
I was ejected.
I didn't want to see him.
I don't root for people's success.
I don't want to see Sam Darnold do well with somebody else.
I want to see him do well for me.
And he didn't do that.
And I will hold the grudge.
And you know what?
All of a sudden, Sam I.M. is back to being the Sam Darnold
who he was with the Jets.
That's the real Sam Darnold.
Please stand up.
And he's doing it right now.
Throwing picks in overtime feels like my guy is back.
So because he wronged me, I'll continue to wrong him.
We'll ride Kenneth Walker and the Kansas City Chiefs.
I got to tell you, you make me sick.
And by you, I mean you, but really Jets fans.
Because all of a sudden, oh, Sam Darnold throwing interceptions.
You know, Vikings fluke, Super Bowl fluke.
Now I want revenge.
Sam, get it for you.
I want him to say in the post-game news conference, you know what?
Take that, Bill Belichick.
That's what I want.
Darnold's going to protect the ball.
Zach Charbonnet, who replaced Kenneth Walker,
finally going to make his season debut this week.
I am going to take the Seahawks to win and cover.
That'll be Sam Darnold and the Seahawks' revenge for you.
And finally, the Minnesota Vikings.
They're favored by six and a half points.
Take it on at home, your Indianapolis Colts.
Yeah, you know, I want to root against the Colts too as a Jets fan
because we all know if the Colts are bad, the Jets get a higher pick,
but they just let go of their GM, bye-bye, see you later,
thanks for playing our game.
They just, you know, they're thinking about the coach right now
and they're probably going to make a move
on him before the end of the season.
Everything screams you've got to roll with the Vikings.
And I like Kyler Murray.
You know why?
Because he's short, and I'm short, and the shorts stick together.
But this is one of these games where it almost is, again, too obvious.
The Vikings, oh, see, of course you're going to win by a touchdown.
The Colts are terrible.
You know, the owner with the clipboard, she's going to take over.
I don't know what she's writing on there.
She's going to write something special.
The Colts, Jonathan Taylor is the best guy in the field.
I will ride them to at least cover this spread.
I don't want Kyler Murray to have a bad game, though.
I mean, me looking at him, the little guys, the little guys.
We're sick of being bullied.
So have a good game, but don't cover,
and that's why I'm rolling with the Colts.
Listen, I'm surprised
because you know that Justin Jefferson is a huge fan of mine,
huge fan of yours listens to Babs
and the boss every single morning I'm rolling with the Minnesota
Vikings I think the Colts are a dead team walking I agree
with your take it's a brilliant one you
always have great observations on the genius of Jonathan Taylor
but I just think Brian Flores
and his defense it's just absolutely too much
it's fantastic I don't trust Daniel Jones as far
as I can throw him. So I'm going to lay the six
and a half with the Minnesota Vikings. Babs,
you're the absolute best. We appreciate it.
Congrats on all your success. The number one
sports radio morning show host,
according to Barrett Sports Media. Babs and the Boss,
weekdays, six to nine Eastern on Mad Dog Sports Radio.
Keep up the outstanding work and we'll be
listening on Monday morning. Oh, thanks so much, Sean.
I have no idea what happens if I beat you
the picks or you beat me apparently we were playing for nothing
which bothers me greatly
but you want to play for something we gotta play
for something you want to play for i mean we live
in the same town you want you want to play
for for brunch you want to play for dinner we'll play
for a beer you know what how about a beer
and then the diner or either or we have a diner near us and
serve the beer with the omelets we could do that i can have breakfast
and brunch all in the same
meal. It's on. If I win, it's on you.
That's what makes him the best morning radio host for sports
in all of sports radio. Thank you, Sean.
And right back at you. I am absolutely obsessed
with the New Jersey Devils trading for Connor Hellebuck.
This is a phenomenal trade. You could
easily make the case that the Team USA legend,
the best goalie in hockey, he demanded a trade.
And honestly, I know he signed the contract.
In theory, you should honor it.
But this is what happens, and it happened with Brady Tkachuk,
when you are playing for a team in Canada,
and you just won a gold against Canada for Team USA.
So I think it was an untenable situation.
And the Devils, to their credit, they pounce.
This is not a good trade.
This is a phenomenal trade.
This is a difference-making trade.
This is a playoff kind of trade.
This is Jack Hughes and Hellebuck together forever kind of trade.
If you're a fan of the Devils, you've got to love sports.
That's the show.
If you missed any portion of the show, just do what I do.
Rewatch the show over and over and over again.
