I'm CBC meteorologist Ashley Brawiler with a look
at your forecast for Newfoundland and Labrador.
We have post-tropical storm Josephine now south of Nova Scotia
and going to stay well south of the island
as we head through the evening tonight and into tomorrow.
But we are seeing some indirect impacts from this area of low pressure,
which we're already seeing now.
Some rain, the story this afternoon,
and the potential for some snow in the higher elevations.
It's looking a lot less than it did yesterday.
So about two centimeters likely, again,
higher terrain and likely just on grassy surfaces.
But if you are traveling on the highway today,
just be prepared that you may encounter some winter conditions.
We are seeing some snow showing up on the radar right now.
Most of this is rain and that's east.
That's where the heaviest rain is at the moment.
And we'll continue to see some gusty winds as well.
Environment Canada has that wind warning
from Bridgetown through to the southern Avalon
with gusts of 80 to 100 kilometers per hour.
But we could see upwards of 110 for the Burin Peninsula
as well as the Southern Avalon this evening.
That's when the winds will really ramp up.
But as you can see through Central, 60 to 80.
A little less, though, for the West Coast,
but you're still looking at gusts between 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.
Eventually, we will see those winds ease below warning criteria
as we head through tomorrow.
And then those winds will ease altogether as we head into Sunday.
Here's a look at the future tracker.
So most of that rain will continue through
the afternoon today into tomorrow.
Again, mostly eastern Newfoundland seeing that rain.
And then eventually as we head through the overnight,
we'll see some clear skies.
And that will set the stage for a very beautiful Sunday
into Monday for most areas.
Although it does look like some showers will move in.
Definitely through Labrador and then parts of the west coast
and central as we get through the beginning of the week.
