Yes, definitely a windy weekend, but it is a good weekend
to get out there and do some of that bass fishing.
It's a little bit more protected, shoreline fishing you can get
out there, and hopefully someone can catch a bigger bass than you.
Oh, plenty of people do, but I was in a little tiny lake,
very small, and it was over five pounds, and that's solid.
That's pretty cool.
That's a solid.
That's pretty cool.
Where were you again?
It was.
I was up in Ellijay, Georgia.
Okay.
Okay, I'll let you guys do your thing.
All right, but I don't even know if we're ever going
to get to a fishing report this morning
because we've got too much else to talk about.
Let's talk about the Seafood Festival.
Yes, it's Seafood Festival weekend,
and I'm so excited to share John's Pass
with so many people coming out here to visit
and enjoy this great seafood.
All our restaurants, bars, it's a good time.
There's local artists.
There's so many different events.
There's costume contests for kids, for adults.
There's live music.
So much to do, see, and enjoy here inside John's Pass this weekend.
So definitely worth a visit.
If you're able to get out here,
there's free parking at the middle school on Saturday and Sunday.
But every day there's free parking at City Hall
and the Rec Center and a free shuttle.
So it's a free event, free parking, free shuttle, and not a long wait.
It's worth coming out for sure.
But wait, there's more.
You're offering ghost tours?
Yes, yes.
we have our grand opening of our new ghost tours coming up
this next week as well. Those run on the
weekends, Friday. This time of year, we're doing them 7 p.m. and 8.30.
It's a great time, Friday
night and Saturday night,
to learn a little bit more about the area, walk around John's Pass,
and learn some of the spooky stories and history of our local area,
for sure. It's worth it. It's
definitely worth coming out and enjoying dinner in the pass,
and then maybe walking around and
Enjoying some ghost stories for sure.
And then the pirate ship as well, it's coming back.
We're excited about that.
All good, all good.
All right, in the time we've got left, do a fishing report.
Just take it.
All right, right now inshore, we've seen the snook on the move.
It's crazy lately, this water temperature is really shifting.
It is frustrating, all the wind that Dave's talking about.
But you're able to get out there in certain areas
and avoid the wind if you're able to tuck in inshore.
and some guys are still getting out there and making it happen.
Right now, those snook are really moving back
into the upper bay and back bay waters,
making it possible to find a little wind-protected area
and do some catching.
We're also seeing the redfish really,
really start to concentrate right now.
We're on a big full moon this weekend,
so we'll have a lot of moving water,
a lot of moving bait, and that should
help concentrate some of these fish
on those salooner majors and salooner minors.
Also on top of that, the trout bites should be picking up for us.
As that water temperature continues to drop,
we've seen an incredible flounder bite lately,
and that should only get better
and better as that water temperature keeps going.
But they are going to close November 15th,
so make hay while the sun is shining.
We're also seeing the pompano action spotty around the area.
You've got a lot of different options inshore.
But nearshore right now, the hogfish bite is starting
to pick up for us nicely, and that's really exciting.
Plus, the mackerel are back in town really heavily,
and we're expecting those kingfish any minute.
That water temperature at Egmont is now in the right zone.
It's 76 degrees.
About 72 to 78 is where we normally see
those kingfish start to run real heavy in our area.
So I'm hoping with this east wind,
we'll be able to troll the beach still
and catch some of those mackerel
and maybe one of those early season kingfish
and take advantage of all the amazing numbers
of sharks that we have along our area as well.
Then on top of that, we're seeing some red grouper out deeper,
some lanes, some mangroves.
It's just a matter of trying to get some decent weather windows
where we're able to capitalize and get out there a little deeper.
Also offshore, unfortunately,
red snapper is coming to a close for our Federal For-Hire fleet,
and it's a little too windy to access them,
But we are still going to go out there and catch some nice red grouper,
triggerfish, scamp grouper,
and a lot of other species once this weather calms down.
And we should see the blackfin tuna better.
We should still see some spotty wahoo out there.
And we're going to try to catch as many scamp as possible before
the end of the year because they're going to be closed for the first
time in my lifetime, the whole six months of 2027 to start.
So definitely want to go out
and catch some scamp before the end year as well.
but don't forget Russell, what's that Dylan
if you're too busy to go fishing you're just too
darn busy i'm so glad dave got out there
and showed us a nice big bass but if you're too
busy this week we also have a fishing conversation coming up Tuesday
the 27th at 7 p.m at OCC Roadhouse
so it's a little too breezy to get out there come join us
at OCC we're giving away free fishing
trips free fishing rods coolers
and more nice it's at 7 p.m it's going to be a great time all
All right, cool. Hey, Dylan, as always,
good to see you. Thanks for everything.
Have a good weekend. Have fun this weekend, okay?
Thank you, guys.
