All right. Welcome back, everybody. You ready?
We have got a beautiful performance for you.
Stand by, though. First, let me tell you what this is all about.
It's Italian month. It is
October is Italian American Heritage Month.
And this weekend, the Music and Culture Center
stage in Macomb County.
Here to tell us about it is Lisa Bica Gradsky with NOI, which I think I
need to get in on this organization and celebrate my heritage
and concert of colors. So introduce us
to who's joining us, Lisa. Yeah, absolutely.
To my left is Cliff Monier and he is with
the Maestro Ramo or Michele Ramo. Michele Ramo.
All right. Now let's talk about this concert
and then we'll talk more about this celebration of the culture.
So when is this happening?
Sure. So this Saturday,
it's a free concert at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts
in Clinton Township, Macomb County,
and the NOI Foundation is the Nuovi Orizzonti Italiani,
New Italian Horizons, and we are all about the Italian language.
We work closely with the Italian
consulate here in Detroit,
and we are partnering with the Concert of Colors to put on this
neighborhood program, and tickets are absolutely free
at the Macomb County or the Macomb Community
performing arts center box office
or you can get them online okay so it's a concert to celebrate
Italian American Heritage Month yes
and also to recognize your organization which focuses on
on language and teaching the language
and spreading this beautiful language to more
people right absolutely we really focus
on students in the K through 12 schools oh dang
yeah but we also i aged out well
and then we inch up to college so you know it's never too
late to go back quite there yet okay trust me okay
and then we also um are uh focusing on some
adult programming soon
so there you go the NOI foundation if you're interested in um you know
hosting these uh these classes
or actually learning it's uh one of our dear uh former
co-workers who has passed Bill Gallagher he
was passionate about studying the Italian language
He loved it so much, and I went to a class with him
because it is so good for your brain to study another language.
All right, sir, what are we playing here?
What are we going to perform?
We're going to perform a polka,
which is an original song I wrote for the Italian community.
Yes.
Now, where are you from?
I'm from Sicily.
Oh.
Born and raised there.
Now, if you're a Sicilian, you call yourself Sicilian,
right, instead of Italian?
That's what I'm starting to understand.
Actually, I found out that Sicilian is not a dialect, it's a language.
It's a whole different ballgame down there.
It comes from Latin.
All right, I'm going to get out of here
because we want to hear the performance and
tell everybody again, it is happening Saturday,
October 24th, McCombs Center for the Performing
Arts.
Very good.
All right, take it away fellas.
