Mats Patti shares a passionate reaction to a 2001 performance by Eugene, the self-taught bassist for the band Ginger. The video emphasizes Eugene's immense talent and humility, contrasting his \"beast\" level of skill on the bass with his own modest claim of being merely \"okay.\"
Hey guys, it's Mats Patti.
How are you? Ginger, Ginger,
Ginger is back and this is Colossus,
but we're going to highlight Eugene.
Oh my goodness. He is amazing. This was performed
as a soundtrack in Nashville, Tennessee, look like in December, 2001.
And you know, I like to do,
you know like a throwback or at least like a history
so there was an interview okay at
metal.hu you can go there
so what i like about all the members of Ginger is they're so
unique raw and very talented but down to earth okay
and one of the things you should read the
whole interview is, is amazing,
but I always like to just talk about how he is self-taught. Okay.
And he is a beast on that bass guitar. Okay.
But when, uh, this particular, um, interviewer,
you know, she interviewed him, you know, he's very,
um, humble, but, but, but yet genuine at
the same time you know um she asked him
or she made a comment where saying uh yeah but you're
you know you're super good at it
and his response is i'm not super good let's look at you know
things clearly people keep saying this now
because the band is big and we have lots of fans but i
have to say a statement i am not super good i'm
not even just good i am maybe okay and you know
after that, he kind of like, you know,
a little confused laugh, but he is very genuine when he
actually answered that question, you know, and,
um, that's what I like about him. He is great
and self-taught guys. Come on. Okay.
Like I said, if you want to read more about him, you can go to
metal.hu and if you want to know
a little bit history about him you should check you know the
other reaction and I always love to learn
and love to just sit you know and hear you know their point
of view because they're true artists okay their struggles
and how they you know became so huge
and so popular but yet you know they don't think that way you know
and um you know if you're
driving you should just put like some of you know
the interviews um about you know all the other
members and i'm telling you amazing amazing like i want
to cry right now because i know like
you know their their struggles and i love that you know
so but i'm not gonna i'm gonna stop
crying so let's check this out okay i might cry throughout
