Possible assassination attempt on Trump-endorsed Wisconsin
gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany,
Trump's pick for governor of Wisconsin,
swims to safety after his plane loses power
and crash lands on Lake Wausau.
Quote, God was watching over us.
End quote, Tiffany said in a statement.
Republican Wisconsin Congressman
and gubernatorial nominee Tom Tiffany narrowly escaped what could
have been a horrific tragedy Saturday night after
the small plane carrying him suddenly lost power
while approaching the Wausau downtown airport.
The terrifying ordeal ended with Tiffany and the pilot
scrambling out of the aircraft as it began sinking into Lake Wasua
and swimming to safety
in the darkness. Tiffany, who
is President Donald Trump's endorsed Republican candidate for Wisconsin
governor, was returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day dinner
on Saturday, September 12th,
when the aircraft experienced the emergency.
According to Tiffany, the pilot was forced to
ditch the plane in Lake Wausau after it lost power during
its approach to the airport. Tiffany wrote
on X. Quote, while returning home
from La Crosse County Lincoln Day dinner tonight, a plane I was
traveling in lost power as we approached the Wasua Downtown Airport.
The pilot made an emergency
water landing in Lake Wasua.
After the aircraft hit the water, Tiffany and the pilot managed to
call 911. Then the plane began going underwater.
Quote, after landing, we called 911. As the plane
began to submerge. We exited the aircraft and swam
and found a shallow bar where we were able
to stand. There we waited until emergency responders reached us
by boat, Tiffany said.
It sounds super lucky to me.
The two men were eventually reached by emergency personnel
and transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Tiffany thanked the pilot and the first responders
who rushed to their aid.
Quote, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the pilot,
the Wausau Fire Department, and all of its first responders
who came to our aid so quickly.
They got us safely out of the water and transported us to
Aspirus Washoe Hospital, where we received excellent care.
Both men escaped with minor injuries.
According to the Washoe Pilot and Review,
Marathon County's 911 center,
took the call at 8:49 Saturday evening. A Washoe Fire Department
airboat had both men in the boat by 9:05,
less than 16 minutes later. They were taken to
Aspirus Washoe Hospital. Both were treated and released.
Tiffany's campaign said he needed
stitches for a cut above his right eye.
The pilot was released as well. Tiffany closed his statement
by crediting God for watching over them during the harrowing ordeal.
Quote, God was watching over
us tonight. I'm incredibly grateful to be here
in the hospital with my wife, Chris, by my side.
An experience like this reminds you just how precious life really is.
According to the Wasahu
Through Pilot and Review, authorities identified the pilot
as 73-year-old Leonard E. Boltz of Pearson, Wisconsin.
Timmy, 68 years old, was the only passenger.
The aircraft was a four-seat Beechcraft K-35 Bonanza,
which is a one-engine plane.
Stay away from one-engine aircrafts, folks.
can always land with a single engine if you have a two-engine aircraft.
Preliminary word
from the Sheriff's Office is that the plane suffered
a mechanical problem on approach.
The FAA and NTSB have been notified and are investigating.
The wreckage was still
in the lake late Sunday.
It has been marked so boaters will stay clear. God bless folks. Please
give us a thumbs up and share.
