Medvedev Blasts Graham Act as ‘Russophobic’, Accuses US of Violating Russian Rights

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has warned that relations between Russia and the United States have been damaged for decades, criticising the Lindsey Graham Act after US President Donald Trump froze sanctions expected under the legislation. Medvedev described the measure as systemic and Russophobic, argued that it unlawfully infringes on the rights of Russia and its citizens, and claimed it could even be qualified as an act of genocide. He also warned that decisions surrounding such sanctions could eventually become a tool for blackmail. The legislation obligates the US president to impose new restrictions on Russia and tariffs on its trading partners, while allowing the White House to suspend their implementation. Medvedev said the two countries would remain “systemic adversaries” despite Trump's decision to freeze the penalties.
