Moving on, Iran has told Pakistan's army chief
that there would be no talks with Washington
until Tehran's demands were met, underscoring
its hardening stance despite mediation efforts by Pakistan.
Well, Muneer was in Tehran as part of a renewed push
to broker a peace deal between Iran and the United States.
Well, this is General Muneer's fifth trip to Iran following
the April truce between Tehran and Washington.
Now, according to Iran's official news outlet, IRNA, Interior
Minister Mohsen Naqvi was accompanying the Pakistani army chief.
Both held a series of meetings with senior Iranian officials,
including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi,
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf
and Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei.
During his meeting with Muneer, Iranian President Masoud
Pezeshkian rejected the idea of negotiations under U.S. threats.
He said Washington must first remove the threats
and sanctions in order to begin a dialogue.
Pezeshkian said he believes U.S. could attack
in the midst of negotiations.
According to an Iranian readout of the meeting between Iranian
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Asim Munir,
Ghalibaf said that Washington could
not regain Tehran's trust until it fulfilled the seven conditions
that Iran set out last month for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Now, the demands included ending a U.S. blockade on its ports,
the lifting of sanctions on its oil exports,
as well as ending hostilities on all regional fronts.
Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei delivered
a similar message during a separate meeting with Muneer
that Tehran would not allow nuclear material to leave the country.
He added that such materials constituted a major asset
and were a national wealth
for the Iranian people intended for use within the country.
Tehran had previously maintained that it would
not hand over its nuclear materials enriched to 60%,
which is close to the atomic bomb threshold of 90% to any country,
but had hinted at the possibility
of diluting them within Iran's borders.
On Tuesday, Iranian Revolutionary Guards said
that their naval mines halted three tankers
attempting to travel the Strait
of Hormuz via routes considered illegal by Tehran.
The guards later said in a statement
that all three oil tankers exploded and caught fire
after striking a naval mine south of the Strait of Hormuz.
The West Asia war has sparked in late February
by the United States and Israel.
when they launched a wave of surprise attacks on Iran
while Washington and Tehran were in the midst
of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.
The warring parties agreed a memorandum
of understanding in June mediated by Pakistan
and that was expected to create a framework
for a permanent resolution to the conflict.
But the deal did not last long.
