The only one that really consistently pays me is Split.
Really?
Because we made it for, I think it was made
for like $6 million or something like that.
Yeah.
And let's say they spent $30 advertising it.
Right.
In our first weekend, we made $40, so we were in profit.
Wow.
So our first residual check came at the end of the first weekend.
Tom Holland show to do it right
Hollywood is coming clean about a dirty four-letter word, cash.
That was James McAvoy on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast,
revealing which of his movies has shelled out
the biggest residual checks.
Surprisingly, it's 2017's Split.
From the jump, he said M. Night Shyamalan's thriller
was a bonkers situation
and still pays him handsomely to this day.
But it's probably a drop in the bucket compared
to these actors' massive paydays
that we learned about this year.
Starting with Tom Holland,
sources told The Wrap that his deal with Sony and Marvel
put his latest Spidey salary at $20 million.
But that's not all.
Because of back-end bonus potential,
Holland could make at least $100 million from Spider-Man
Brand New Day. You heard that right.
Holland's fourth Spider-Man standalone is breaking records
too. Globally, it grossed $2.5 billion,
and in North America alone, it's become the number one
all-time highest-grossing film.
Although there's a good chance that'll be topped by another Marvel
movie, Avengers Doomsday, which hits theaters on December 18th.
In that one, Iron Man star
Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU
in a new role as Doctor Doom. And get this,
RDJ is reportedly getting a nine-figure salary.
Sources told Page Six Hollywood that the actor
will earn $100 million from two Avengers flicks.
Secret Wars is out next year, plus at least one
cameo in another movie. Ryan Gosling's Ghost Rider, anyone?
After Robert Downey Jr., the next
two top earners are the Chrises, Chris Hemsworth,
who plays Thor, and Chris Evans, aka Captain
America. They negotiated about $40 million each for the two films.
Cha-ching! And finally, we
gotta talk about Margot Robbie.
This summer, Variety reported that she made a whopping $50
million from starring in and producing 2023's Barbie.
It went on to make over $1.4 billion
at the box office. The news broke
as salary negotiations have stalled for the Barbie sequel.
The latest offer was reportedly Warner Bros.' highest ever.
One source described the amount as life-changing money.
But we'll just have to wait
and see if this hurts the chances of us getting a Barbie 2.
Nooooo!
