Pia d'Hautefeuille Painter France

Pia d'Hautefeuille is a self-taught French artist who turned to painting after studying art history and earning a master's degree from Sciences Po Paris. Her work focuses primarily on oil painting, which she practices in a figurative and experimental style.
She explores a universe where the spiritual, gender, and human psychology occupy a central place. Her works also evoke dreams, nightmares, foundational myths, and nature, creating atmospheres that are at once mineral, organic, and nocturnal. Pia uses a limited palette of cool tones to render this world of blurred boundaries, where men and women search for their place.
Her artistic approach relies on a subtle interplay of symbols, the expressiveness of her brushstrokes and colors, drawing inspiration from Symbolist, Romantic, and Post-Impressionist masters. In addition to oil painting on linen canvas, she sometimes uses pastels and charcoal, thus enriching her figurative practice.
Through her work, Pia d'Hautefeuille seeks to create a balance between colors and contrasts, while exploring profound and universal themes. Her unique journey, blending academic training and self-education, nourishes a body of work that is both thoughtful and sensitive.
