Marty from FTV. I'm here with my guy, Stricto.
Must be cold in here.
Reason, man.
Yeah?
Robbie needs to start paying his bills in here.
He's got a hoodie. I'm a bit disappointed.
The hot dog.
Where has it gone?
Matchdays, mate.
Matchdays?
Oh, it's a matchday thing.
That's like trademark.
Yeah, it's just...
I'm getting a lot of love for it.
People see me in it, they're like...
I've got a lot of love for it.
I'm a bit disappointed.
I mean, it's a great hoodie, but I mean,
you know, you look very dapper.
But the hot dog coming, it's iconic.
I'll bring it out.
Like the season ticket, Dash.
Let's give it, I'll bring it out.
So, talking about seasons,
Arsenal beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground
away from home in the Premier League Super Sunday.
Was it super for you?
Three points, definitely.
That's all we came for, right?
Everyone here watching this,
you, me, everyone in the studio,
we all came for three points
and that's what was delivered.
I could argue the way we went about it,
but three points is three points.
Okay, so I don't want to argue, but I mean, how did we go about it?
And obviously there's some probably contentious points
and some points that you're going to
bring out about maybe the performance
that I'd like to know.
And I'm sure it'd be great if you shared them with everyone.
Do not.
I've been an Arsenal fan long enough
to see Arsenal absolutely dominate teams
from front to back, sideways, up front, everything.
I've not come away with three points.
I've seen that.
And recently I've seen us just be more astute.
not doing the
tiki-taka stuff
and get three points
this is no different
listen
the manager I think
it's one of them
performances that I suppose
people probably won't
give him credit for
he set up his team
wasn't going well for it
changed it
this is literally
what Pep Guardiola does
you know
they say Pep gets
Man City like
20
18 to 20 points
a season
just off of
games like this
and that's what
Arteta has done
it wasn't a great game
I think
you know like what
Belgium said earlier
But sometimes you've got to give the opposition credit.
You know, Nottingham Forest were very, very good.
They set up very well.
Almost sort of made us play as bad as we did.
You know, just their set-up.
They closed spaces.
They also pressed at the same time.
All that kind of stuff.
But generally, a game like this, you have to credit the manager.
It was his substitution.
It was not for the first time as well this season.
Bringing on Noni Madueke, taking off Eze.
I think Eze had a poor game.
Honestly, almost a piss-dink kind of performance.
Ben White also
I think
another one that goes
under the radar
is that Timber
Timber's substitution
came on
gave us a bit more
freed up Saka
a little bit
you know
so yeah
give
listen
the manager
my manager's done it again
and I know some people
will look
and be more critical
towards the team's performance
but sometimes
you have to win ugly
football isn't always beautiful
okay so you lead me on
to a question
that I've actually
been thinking about
it's obviously Maresca
talking about managers
and obviously
you're talking about
Man City and Pep Guardiola
so Maresca's come in
and they've had a
fantastic start
like they have not
dropped a point
okay
so is that
is Pep Guardiola
brilliant
or has Maresca
just come into a
machine
that's already running
well if we look
if we're going to do
that then we look at
what Arteta
walked into
compared to what
Maresca's walked into
two different things
you know Arteta's
literally had to
gut out everything
and restructure
paint
plaster
knock things down
it was
coving
covering
door handles
there you go
locks on doors
tell them
you know that's your
that's your field
so that's
that's what he's had to
had to come and do
whereas Maresca's already
come to a house
where the handle
is not even just
a normal handle
coving's banging
painting's done
patio's done
the knob is
driveway's sorted
the track
there you go
on point
proper landscape job
and a nice car there
for him
oh yeah mate
plugged in the lot
exactly
so there's a difference
you know
and that's
that's the difference
between what Arteta's
walked into
and what Maresca's
looking to
but also saying that
we've got exactly
the same record
as Man City this season
no we haven't
of course we haven't
we've both lost one game
okay alright
okay in the Premier League
I'm talking about
all comps
all comps
oh he brings that one
out of bag
I can do comp
match in the bar bro
I know you do
I can do it too
so listen
the
the gap
isn't
as crazy as it seems
and what people need
to realise is
Arsenal are second
playing this bad
that just tells you
that we're not
we're not
we're not
blurring out the houses
but we are still second
we're three points behind
it is a pressure
this was a pressure game
I know some people
were saying
we're expecting Arsenal
to win 3-4-0
but the truth is
if you look at like
our front three
you're not really
going to get that
you're going to get
here and then
in one or two games
but I don't think
that will be consistent
this season
that Arsenal
are going to win
4-5-6-0
most games
I think you can expect
one or two goals
you can expect
our defence
to be solid
as it was today
you think about
Konsa's challenge
when
Liam Delap was through
you think about
Declan Rice's block
in the same
is it the same
there's a different phase
different sequence
but
you can always expect that
but where we probably
don't have
the firepower
of champions
is probably that
front three
and
Martin we need to address it
and we need to address it
sharp
and my
my issue is this it's not so much
who do you get in it's about decision making it's the basics I'm
not seeing from these guys I'm not seeing Eze hugging
a touchline I'm not seeing Eze trying
to beat his man likewise I'm not seeing Saka sometimes
with his decision making you know he's
not getting the decision not not not taking the best
the best decisions you know and I've always
said that's his best attribute is his decision making we're
not seeing that then Havertz isn't
firing but he does some things pretty well
so these things got addressed but it's just the
basics i'm not seeing from these players
so you'd like arsenal to address that as quickly as they
address the season ticket in physical
to electronic after you dash in your season ticket yeah i know
you couldn't wait to get that one in there
listen i want to see arsenal retain the premier
league that is something i want to see i want i
I want this to be the dynasty, as people keep saying.
And the dynasty only happens by being consistent.
If you win the league this season, you win the next season.
Win it again, bring in more trophies,
throw in a Champions League in there.
That's what I want to see.
But you can also see a slight blueprint
on why we haven't been able to retain the league title.
Because we don't seem to improve on our transfer activities.
If you look at the seasons before,
where we just didn't buy strong players,
or we sold players even
you're winning the league
and you're selling players
so we just need to
improve on things like that
and I have no doubt
in my mind
because look
this team ain't playing great
we haven't even
gone into first gear
and we're second
it's not
a great watch
but I tell you Marty bro
give me three points
that's all I come for
any day of the week
well you've been strict though
even though you ain't been that strict
I've been Marty
