Legal questions are piling up as the fallout grows
from the federal investigation into
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
Right now, Representative Omar's attorneys are asking the
Justice Department to return some of the property seized
from her D.C. home. Hannah Flood has been
following this for us from the Live Center with the update.
Good morning. Yeah, good morning.
More and more people are weighing in on this investigation,
but the full scope of what the
feds are looking for is still a bit unclear this morning.
Right now, it seems as though they are
focusing on Representative Omar's citizenship
and how old she was when she became a naturalized
citizen. U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan was asked about
the probe over the weekend and claimed
the federal government has a strong case.
I'm not going to get ahead of, you know,
the Bureau or HSI, but, you know,
I've been told they have a strong case and we'll let the evidence
lead where it leads, but she'll be held to the same standard you
and I are held. If she violated
law, then she'd be held accountable.
Former President Barack Obama weighing in on this
over the weekend. He posted on social media saying,
quote, it is a basic principle of
American democracy that the government can't
selectively target individuals simply because
their political beliefs or what they say.
Again, Congresswoman Omar has not been charged with a
crime at this time. We'll, of course,
continue following the story for you as the investigation
continues. Tom McKellie. All right, Hannah,
for us there in the Live Center, thank you.
For the first time since her death,
we're hearing from Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor's husband.
The White Bear Lake native was one
of the first service members killed in the Iran war.
The sergeant and five other soldiers died in a drone strike in Kuwait.
This was back in March.
And over the weekend, her husband confronted Vice President J.D. Vance
at a televised town hall.
Though the Iranian drone was the weapon that killed my wife,
were a lot of mistakes
and a lot of fundamental failures that led up to that.
I believe CBS has reported on that.
My wife has told me things before she passed.
There are other soldiers that know things
that are being quiet about certain aspects
of this.
There's a failure in the leadership
and I wanna know how this administration is gonna
start holding those leaders accountable.
If there were failures, and I don't doubt there were,
literally the first time I've
heard of this is this conversation and I want to fix that stuff.
I do not want this stuff
to happen. Now, including Sergeant First Class Nicola
Moore, at least 21 US service members have died in this war with Iran.
Another 865 have
been wounded.
