He criticized the administration for leadership failures and a lack of accountability following a drone strike in Kuwait that killed his wife and five other soldiers shortly after the start of the Iran war.
Tonight, we're hearing from Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor's husband
for the first time since her death.
The White Bear Lake native was one
of the first service members killed in the Iran war.
Her husband confronted the vice president
at a televised town hall last night.
Fox 9's Mike Manzoni joins me now.
And Mike, he called out the administration
for what he believes were fundamental failures.
Randy, this all happened at a CBS News town hall
in Michigan ahead of the midterm elections
During the Q&A segment, Joey Amor confronted Vice President J.D. Vance.
His wife and five other soldiers died
in a drone strike in Kuwait on March 1st,
and that was just one day after the war started.
The 39-year-old left behind two children.
Here's some of what he said,
as well as some of the vice president's response.
Though the Iranian drone was the weapon that killed my wife,
there were a lot of mistakes
and a lot of fundamental failures that led up to that.
I believe CBS has reported on that.
My wife has told me things before she passed.
There are other soldiers that know things
that are being quiet about certain aspects
of this.
There's a failure in the leadership,
and I wanna know how this administration is gonna
start holding those leaders accountable.
If there were failures, and I don't doubt there were,
literally the first time I've
heard of this is this conversation, and I want to fix that stuff.
I do not want this stuff to happen.
Just weeks ago, the Associated Press spoke with soldiers
who said the Pentagon did not
take Iranian threats to the port in Kuwait seriously enough.
I spoke with Amor on the phone this afternoon.
He told me that he's holding off
on doing any more interviews for now, Randy.
All right, Mike, thank you.
