To Gainesville now, police are looking for a second suspect
who's wanted in connection to
last week's deadly shooting outside of Walmart on Shallowford Road.
That shooting left an 81-year-old
man dead. So agents with the FBI
and the GBI are now assisting in this investigation. Fox 5's Larry
Sproul is live outside GBI headquarters
this morning with the latest. What have we learned,
Larry? Good morning. Good morning, Kaitlin.
Now this shooting has a lot of people here in
Metro Atlanta talking.
That's mainly because an innocent bystander was shot and killed
in that parking lot. Father, husband, public servant.
That's how Ted McDaniel remembers his
father, 81-year-old James McDaniel.
He was known as senior chief to a lot of people,
but only four people could tell him that.
But last Wednesday night, the 81-year-old died after
he was shot outside of this Walmart.
Over the weekend, Gainesville police arrested 18-year-old
Kamari Nehemiah Tillman. They say he's one
of two teens wanted in connection to that fatal shooting.
He and 17-year-old Aaron Dorsey are accused
of opening fire during a fight in the parking lot
on October 14th. Investigators say
a fight broke out between two group of males inside the store
before spilling into the parking lot.
Police say at the time McDaniel was leaving the store in a
mobility scooter and headed to his car.
They're shooting across a busy parking lot with hundreds
of vehicles, people everywhere at each other.
And unfortunately, this gentleman just gets
shot and killed just trying to live his everyday life.
Meanwhile, McDaniel's family just wants
justice. I'm just saying no matter what you do,
you can choose your actions. You cannot choose
consequences.
And again, police are still looking for that second suspect.
If you know anything
about his whereabouts, you're asked to call police.
We're live at the GBI headquarters
this morning. I'm Larry Sproul for Good Day Atlanta.
