AI GeneratedA single father and his two young children in Detroit are facing a crisis after a vehicle crashed through the wall of their home. While the family is safe, the house is no longer structurally sound, leaving a family that has already survived homelessness and a house fire in Kentucky fearing they will end up back on the streets.
A single father raising his two young kids devastated after
a driver slams his car into his house.
Fox 2's Camila Murray live outside
of that man's home over on Detroit's west side.
Camila, what happened here?
Yeah, so the house is located here at Prevost and Margarita's.
This is the side of the house.
I'm going to have you take a look at this.
We're going to zoom in and you can see where the car slammed in.
You can literally see into the house.
That's how far this car got.
Now, let's take a look at some videos
so you can see what it looks like inside.
This video that my photographer captured with his cell phone
is actually the two-year-old boy's bedroom.
Thankfully, he was not in the room when this happened.
It was around 1:30.
Dad says he was making lunch when he felt the whole house shake.
They've lived here just for a short time.
Prior to moving to Detroit, the family was living in Kentucky.
but they left when their house burned down
and they lost everything take a listen said we was
homeless when we got here you know
and living in our car trying to figure it out you know and
just for me to find somewhere to call home for them
and here we go again i don't know i honestly
i don't know where we go from here i don't know i'm trying
to figure it all out i'm trying to
process everything right now
and it's like only thing I see is us back on the streets again and
that's bothering me. We're thankful that they were okay
and nobody got hurt but it's terrifying
especially as a mother to know
that that could have happened something could have happened to him
or his children. Back live here thankfully they
were not in the room where the car hit you're
still looking obviously these are live pictures
of what this looks like they're trying to figure
out where they're going to go next this house
is not structurally sound this family needs help
the kids a little boy two years old the girl four years old dad
and a little dog if you would like
to help them we are going to put the link
to their GoFundMe on our website fox2detroit.com reporting
live on Detroit's west side Camille
and Murray Fox 2 News Camille it must have been uh traveling
pretty fast to cause that much damage
do we know anything about the vehicle in question and the
the driver? No, we don't yet.
We have calls into the police department trying to figure that out,
whether or not this car was stolen.
You know, what if this person had a medical emergency?
We're still working to try to find out what exactly happened.
But again, clearly by looking
at this, a car slammed into this house,
I'm guessing probably at a very high rate of speed
based on the impact
and the fact that you can literally see into the house. That's how fast
that car was going. Yeah, we know
this community will often step up in times of need. Let's hope
they do so again. Camille, thank you for that report.
