Jedd Fisch on His Youth Movement
Oct 18, 2026
What do you make of your team's response
in light of the last couple of games,
losing quarterback?
What do you think of their response?
Yeah, well, you know, I talked to our team last night.
We had a team meeting for about 45 minutes at 11 o'clock at night here.
And we went through the two types of teams we've been.
There's a lot of great plays that we've had this season.
And then there's a lot of plays that we're not real proud of.
And you go back and forth, and, you know,
we've lost two games by a combined seven points.
and then last week even as much as an aberration
as it felt like with 14 minutes left or 17 minutes
left in the game was still a two-score game
and we challenged our guys to say like when are we
going to realize that the last play has never met
the next play that just play each play one play at
a time and if we can do that then we can
be a far more resilient football team and a team that
doesn't worry about the past it only worries about the present
and I was really proud that our guys
took that message and recognized that while we're still very young
and while we're still playing a lot of youth out there,
we've got freshmen making interceptions,
sophomores making interceptions.
Chris Lawson and Dez Robuck are two second-year players,
combined 200 yards rushing.
Brian Bonner's a freshman, two touchdowns.
So we are trying to build this thing our way,
and that's going to take time in terms of getting better,
but they're also the most resilient of the youngest people you've got
because they haven't dealt with some of the other adversity.
I think that's why the young guys
that we have can just keep on playing.
