It's the end of Back to the Future,
a movie that I was, I think, a senior in high school
when that movie came out, and last night it came true.
Now, welcome to the show.
Please come inside.
I thought the new Tesla Roadster demo
with Elon Musk yesterday was AI.
I sat there like a dog trying to understand words,
you know, tilting my head to the right
and to the left and to the left and the right.
And I see this beautiful Tesla Roadster go up
to this hot wheels, you know,
the loop with the hot wheels.
It was a half loop, right?
So this car goes up the loop and then flies and flips over,
and these jets pop out, and it lands on the ground.
And then they show the Roadster driving
at three cars like it's like Evel Knievel,
but no ramp, but no ramp.
And all of a sudden, the car leaps into the air,
flies over, and then lands on the other side.
And I'm like, this is AI.
This is AI.
There is no way that this actually happened.
And then I realized it actually freaking happened.
It's real.
Since we knew the car was going to fly, since we knew Roadster
was going to fly, we looked for some inspiration about flying.
And we thought we would lean into the most badass stuff out there,
SR-71, cars that transform.
And that led us to the new Roadster.
It's real. It's real.
It's real. It's a flying car.
It is a freaking flying car. Oh, my God.
Here is Elon Musk yesterday. I'll save it. Listen to Elon Musk.
We had the rockets we borrowed from SpaceX Technology.
You talked about the carbon overlay.
This is one of his engineers.
Pressure vessels. I just want to tell everyone,
because I'm a spec guy, there's two of them in the car.
they are a total of 600 liters
about 250 kilos of air
and we have 10 nozzles
to do all that work
it's using
an advanced ultra high
pressure
air tank so the car
can recharge its air tank
so it's not like you
need special propellant or anything like that
it literally is just going to pop itself up
and
be able to do these maneuvers
whenever you'd like
it's um it's real it's real but it gets even better
because they decided to see how fast it
can go from zero to 60 um you you might want to sit down for this well
while we're getting the
live time uh you know i will say this elon mentioned
the rocket thrusters you can see that
the thrust is exiting the back
of the four thrusters faster than the speed of sound so
you see the mach diamonds it actually creates over 80 kilonewtons
of thrust that is more than
1.21 gigawatts yeah i mean there's that there
are cars no and then there's one car that has
mach diamonds listen ah there you go there you go 0.81
seconds there we go did you did you just hear
that it went from 0 to 60 in 0.81 seconds now for those of you
who are democrats or
Kamala Harris or AOC uh that means uh eight tenths of one second
which is if you divided
a second into 10 parts then in eight of those so it went
from zero to 60 this fast there you go
oh my god in heaven oh my lord oh my lord
the times we live in my do you ever stop
wondering because if you if you
do then just sit down i mean Bernie Sanders wants to stop AI
okay if Bernie Sanders couldn't create Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang all right Elon Musk just his
company is flying a thousand rockets a year
into space he is connecting the world with uh with his
satellites he is uh making it so people with ALS can talk
in their real voice to their loved ones
he is going to make lame people walk i'm not meaning
to make it sound like Christ or anything
but those who can't walk walk those who can't see see
those who can't hear hear he is developing
a device that connects to your optic nerve you
don't even need eyes so it will connect to your
optic nerve and you'll be able to see not only like you see
but also in infrared and all sorts
of other ways you'll be able to see like the Terminator
or not the Terminator the Predator
when the Predator's looking in the woods there
and looking for the you know the the warm bodies
to you know whatever i don't want to go all dark
on this but that's what he's doing oh and then
he's also going to uh let the hearing
or the the deaf hear yeah and and did i just mention that his
car just went from zero to 60 in eight tenths of a second well
while we're getting the live time
uh i want to hear it again i will say this i want
to hear it again Elon mentioned the rocket
thrusters you can see that the thrust is exiting
the back of the four thrusters faster than speed
of sound so you see
the mock diamonds it actually creates over 80 kilonewtons of thrust
i don't even know i mean there's there are cars no and then there's one
car that has mock diamonds
ah there you go there you go 0.81 seconds
there we go i uh you know we we we lose um
when we were so bogged down on our daily issues
and our daily problems um and and sometimes
for some reason people go through life
and they become numb to uh going wow and seeing things and
going wow i've never i've never stopped doing
that i see penny on the sidewalk i stop and pick it up
when i in the morning i go out
and i feed the birds in my parking garage i know i shouldn't
but i just glory it's just glorious to see them every day
and and you know there's going to be a
point in your life i'm talking to like gen z
and people who are younger than me that you're gonna
you're gonna wake up at my age
and you're gonna see all of the technology that has come in your
lifetime. I remember I used to look at my grandmother,
my grandmother, who was old enough
to be my great-grandmother, and my dad,
who was old enough to be my grandfather. She was born in
1890-ish. She saw the Titanic sink.
She was in her teens, well, close to it anyway. Then she saw
flight. Then she saw the telephone.
Well, yeah, no, telephone came after. But anyway, she saw
All of these things happened.
Flight, landing on the moon,
John Glenn before that, and then before she passed.
She passed in like late, like just before 1984.
So she didn't get to see smartphone and all the other things
because when she died, the bag phone,
if you were lucky, you could have a bag phone.
And usually it was just like the company
car would have a bag phone and that was it.
There were no cell phones for anybody else.
And if there were, they were the size of World War II walkie-talkies.
Now, this is my wheelhouse, right?
Because when I was born, you know, computers were meant for NASA.
You know, IBM made supercomputers the size of, you know,
massive rooms of computers that did almost no computing.
NASA had giant rooms of computers to launch to the moon.
And right now, the technology is in your phone.
And right now, I have the Library of Alexandria
in the palm of my hand times 100 billion.
Anything I want to know is right here.
Any movie I want to watch, any TV clip I want to watch,
any piece of history I want to see that has been covered,
I can see here, I can see here, I can talk to someone
on the other side of the planet, and it doesn't cost any money!
I can text my best friend in Japan any time I want, my God!
And the Democrat Party,
the Democrat Party had nothing to say about this man.
Here is Gavin Newsom, about a year ago, talking about Elon Musk.
Elon Musk, one of the great disappointments.
He is going to allow the greatest angle in, I think,
one of the most significant angles in the next decade,
is ceding the EV space to China.
Elon was the one accelerating that.
Now he's put the brakes on his own innovation.
Wow, was he ever frickin' so wrong in his life?
