Jesus Ingles Painter Spain 1988
Jesús Inglés,visual artist and environmentalist
Brief artistic biography:
My name is Jesús Inglés Canalejo , born in 1988 in Cartagena (Murcia, Spain). I am a self-taught visual artist and have been teaching drawing and painting since I was 24. Today, I dedicate my work and all my time as an artist to a single purpose: to unite and reconnect humankind with nature. To be aware that we are made from the dust of the Earth and that the only path forward for our species is to maintain balance throughout the Biosphere in order to bequeath a true future to generations to come. Before becoming who I am today, I must admit that there was a time when I couldn't find meaning in life, why we are here, or what our purpose is. My inspiration for painting was practically nonexistent; ideas wouldn't come. I felt empty and truly lost, even thinking that I lacked the gift to create… until one day I remembered a man who uplifted people's spirits and consciences. That man was Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente . From that day on, I began listening to his radio programs while I painted, and I felt that seed of protecting nature sprout within me. Suddenly, ideas began to emerge, one after another, crowding my mind.Félix taught me that humankind, as the dominant species, has the duty and obligation to fulfill a role in nature, the sacred responsibility to protect our Earth, which, like a mother devoted to her children, gives us everything in return for nothing.Since then, I have found meaning in my life. My role as an individual in this society is to convey, in the best way I know how—through my work—that we only have one path: to reconnect humankind with "Mother Earth" as it was in primitive times. In some way, I want the viewer and my work to connect, to merge, to make them feel involved and complicit in the fact that the most important path for humankind today is to protect our home.If we continue to destroy the planet that supports us, nourishes us, and gives us life, on those foundations that nature has created over billions of years, we will head towards our own extinction.
