The world MUST be ending...

The world genuinely feels like it must be ending because the 2026-27 Calgary Flames actually got a win. A gutsy full-team effort led by Adam Klapka got the boys their first points of the season in what may become a rare occurrence for the team, but fans are finally happy. We're going to get to all that more in this video, but first I want to welcome you to Flames Digest. I'm Mark Griffith. If you're new around here and you love the Flames, make sure to subscribe so you can stay up to date on all the latest news, updates, reports, and rumors revolving around your Calgary Flames. We would love to welcome you to the Flames Digest family, and it is true we won we we won oh my goodness we actually won a hockey game this year and it only took us six games into the season but all over social media we were getting kind of clowned this one came from a Canucks account I believe a Canucks kind of troll account but it says the impossible just happened the Calgary Flames have won a hockey game pretty sure the caption this post too was like 79 and 5 season inbound or something like that but it kind of feels like the world must be ending because we won a game we won a game in Anaheim a place where we're notorious for not winning you know we just played this team as well but what a gutsy win and it was very deserved it's not like we fluked this win out it was a very very deserved win and there were a lot of players that played quite well in case you missed it the score was 4-2 we reversed what we did in the game on Saturday against Anaheim it's kind of funny how the road team won 4-2 twice both games tied 2-2 in the third period as well kind of funny how there were so many parallels in this one but there are a lot of guys that we can highlight and I'm gonna highlight them I'm gonna highlight Adam Klapka of course I thought Pospisil was great Sunyev of course and Dustin Wolfe there were a bunch of other names I could have mentioned there those are gonna be kind of the main guys for me but so many people played so well for the Flames on what was a really awesome night of hockey of course across the NHL with every single team in action but if we get into the players who got onto the score sheet here and the goaltending as well Dustin Wolfe I mean again it was probably his first really good start of the year he made some clutch saves in this one but he gave up just two goals on 25 shots against for the .920 save percentage believe that's the first time this whole year that he's had a game where he had above .900 save percentage game and much closer to a two goals against average better than the five six or seven that it seems like he's usually been giving up uh Sunyev led the way in terms of scoring don't know why he ever started the year in the AHL which is what we were all saying out of the gate but I do not think he's going to go back he gets a goal and an assist in this one another very nice goal right as the five on three expired we couldn't score on the five on three but scored right after it uh Sharkey gets the empty netter Klapka got a nice goal and Pospisil got the winner uh Siplikov Strom Kuznetsov Nemec Backlund and Farabi all getting on the score sheet as well so nice to see quite a few names on there because not only have we been a team that's been giving up a lot of goals but we've also been a team that hasn't been scoring a lot of goals uh if you want to take a look at the full box score here there it is it finally popped up feel free to take a look the one thing for me is that i like seeing a lot of players with a positive plus minus something that has been very hard to come by for the Flames so far this year uh bring up the standings now in the Western Conference we're still at the bottom we're still tied with uh LA in terms of points we're not the only team in the league now that hasn't won though the Kings and the Flyers still have yet to win the Flyers do have three Daryl Sutter points though so they're ahead of us uh whereas the Kings have a couple and are tied on points with us we have played an additional game to them but again it kind of feels like the world must be ending we're going to get into a little apocalypse checklist here let me bring my mug up back again uh so why is it the apocalypse the Flames they won a game the comeback actually held we we had a comeback we took a lead and then we held on to it and it kind of feels like we can enjoy hockey again for anyone who missed it because It might've been a little bit later on your Tuesday night. That was actually really fun to watch. There was some awesome stuff going on. And again, to me, the key guy, again, there's a lot of people I can highlight, but I'm going to highlight Klapka here as he got a really nice goal. He got in a fight as well and just really, really brought the energy. I know there's a lot of people in the fan base who aren't huge fans of Klapka, but in just eight and a half minutes of ice time last night, he played so, so well and really was a difference. maker he seemed to do a little bit of everything and as I just mentioned Adam Klapka was actually an assist away from the Gordie Howe hat trick following his fight with Jeff Malott wasn't able to complete it as Eric Francis was tweeting that one out live during the game but he wasn't able to get the assist but he got two-thirds of a Gordie Howe hat trick remember how often Iggy used to get Gordie Howe hat tricks that was always fun to watch but he was close now Klappro again was playing the hard minutes which is funny because he was doing it in such low minutes the one stat here I wanted to point out is that he's already up to 24th in the NHL in hits and as I just pointed out it's not like he plays all that much he's also got to be first in the league in penalty minutes as well I know that stat's not on here but he's got to be top of the league in terms of probably penalties and penalty minutes but glad to know that he's making the most of his time on the ice actually being a physical presence maybe more of who we maybe thought Pospisil was going to be but Klappro obviously a lot bigger so far i mean fingers crossed knock on wood more durable as well but speaking of Pospisil he is another guy that i did want to uh point out in this one what a photo of him in that one looks like a rock star but he gets a goal as well and he played his best game of the season to be honest he he was really good his goal i mean should it have been saved maybe wasn't the best goal tending but i'm still glad that he threw three hits around was just playing well four shots and goals you can see there and got rewarded with the game winning goal really pleased with how he played and again this is what the winning goal was kind of like in terms of you know where it was on the ice when it came all of that really like these kind of graphics i don't know why it always mirrors the kind of ice there because it was shot from the other side um it was shot from the right side of the net i mean if you know what i mean i know in this graphic it's the right side but the right side in terms of the goalie but uh yeah it was great snapshot again could it have been saved maybe it was really cool that it was assisted by Sunyev and Kuznetsov as well and speaking of Sunyev he's the next guy of course that I need to point out here so we'll get his graphic up two points seems like he's destined to lead the team in points this year which isn't exactly a you know super memorable accolade for this Flames team I mean I know we're only six games in but still but led the way again last night a goal and assist maybe he's just really good against Anaheim but I kind of mentioned it earlier but Logan Gordon also said it he said for a team that doesn't score a lot of goals, it's awfully hard to imagine Sunyev goes back down to the Wranglers anytime soon. Once, you know, Huberto's healthy, the Zeri situation is all resolved, I still hope Sunyev is up there. And Hanzek being healthy too, that obviously is a factor in this as well. But I think Sunyev absolutely deserves it. As we all know, he should be at the NHL level, guaranteed. But he absolutely does deserve it. He's playing well, getting rewarded with points, and honestly just looks really good. He's probably our most lethal guy right now in terms of getting him the puck and scoring uh the fourth guy that i wanted to point out again no idea why anytime i make a wolf graphic it just comes up with that guy from utah i don't know who it is if it's keller or who it is but it was his first quality start of the year as i said so his first you know above 900 save percentage game his goal saved uh above expected was actually above i should say got the win as well only gave up two goals just shout out to him he honestly did play really really well and once again as Darren Haynes here points out he says impressive performance from the Flames tonight who were deserving winners with negative noise swirling all around them they were excellent sharp puck movement dangerous offensively stingy defensively resilient after some first period adversity and clutch saves from Wolf. Wolf was honestly fantastic so after going over all of those guys you can let me know who drove Calgary's first win who was your game MVP was it Clark with his spark was it Pospisil because of a winning goal was it Wolf saves was it Sunyev leading the way offensively or was it someone else there were other guys who played really well i thought Nemetz played well i thought Castagna was great once again the list goes on Fairby for sure played really good but uh yeah you can feel free to let me know down below who was your game MVP another person i wanted to highlight because of their night last night was actually Herrington and how he should be voted for mayor because we got a little bit of a chase hat trick last night chase Herrington uh got three goals and two assists in Spokane's 7-1 win over Everett uh he actually scored a natural hat trick i believe it was in this game so he got a hat trick and then added two assists after was a plus four on the night and just looks like an absolute demon right now so happy to have him around again he was kind of the guy who somewhat surprisingly stuck around at the NHL level for training camp and got such good experience was able to develop with the boys at the NHL level but was just so happy that he was able to gain that and has been doing even better in the dub this year i mean this is best season offensively by far and it's just started it seems what a five point night looked absolutely insane so happy about that Darren Haynes once again so he says yes Flames need a high end impact forward to bolster the rebuild but finding gold outside the first round would sure help too 2023 third rounder I dar suny of a goal and an assist was great again tonight while 2026 second rounder Chase Harrington three goals two assists had a career night with Spokane so yes we're still looking for that prime piece offensively preferably a number one center but you can find stuff later in the draft sometimes like Kasunyev that's been pointed out Wittenbach who we talk about all the time a fifth rounder and Harrington who was a second rounder just this past year looks absolutely insane right now so just so happy to have him around as well now let's get into the comment of the day to wrap up this video as we love to do here on the channel comes from yesterday's video very simple to the point here from lelania just saying things happen go flames i think that's in you know talking about sam hanzik getting injured you know what things happen we're not doing too hot right now but go flames look what happened after that comment you just stay optimistic and look lo and behold we win the game didn't see that coming i know there's some very severe people team tank people who were upset that we won last night but come on you gotta take wins where we can get them that was so much fun last night and of course go flames thank you so much for watching this video please subscribe if you like what you saw here today and have a wonderful rest of your day
