AI GeneratedVisit Milwaukee is leveraging the Milwaukee Brewers' success in the NLCS to promote the city. Through strategic billboards in Los Angeles and a \"What the Milwaukee\" campaign, the organization aims to showcase the city's spirit and hospitality while driving significant economic growth and national recognition for Milwaukee.
But we're bringing a little bit of Brewers spirit out to Los Angeles,
too, even if all of us aren't there right now supporting
the Brewers from the ballpark.
There will be little reminders that we're lingering around,
taking a look right here.
Visit Milwaukee, saying they're bringing a little flavor
to the West Coast with these billboards that you can see right there.
It says the crew is in town for the NLCS,
and we're making sure L.A. knows it.
These are just mock photos right now, but there are more to come.
So I'm actually curious. Some of our crews are out there right now.
We'll have to see, have them keep an eye out
for these billboards as they drive along the highway.
But right now I'm joined by Josh Albrecht with Visit Milwaukee.
That is our producer, Adrian, very hyped up for the Brewers.
This is Josh. Josh, thank you
so much for joining us today on Fox 6 Now.
Yeah, thanks for having me. It's certainly an exciting time.
I've been saying it's going to be a beautiful October
and it certainly is.
It is. And it's a great October for some baseball
and we're super excited.
And again, I know, I feel like we're so far away.
We're playing like long distance right now with the crew,
but I love seeing the support
and what you guys are doing at Visit Milwaukee.
What was the process behind creating these billboards?
Yeah, you know, we just, we wanted to celebrate.
We wanted to bring Milwaukee to LA.
We wanted to do a takeover in our own right
and put a stamp on the series from our local perspective.
And obviously we want to encourage people
to come to the city of Milwaukee as well.
So we have the What the Milwaukee tagline.
This tagline actually goes back
to our shoe drop that we did earlier this year
with Adidas, Jake James, and Summerfest.
The really colorful shoe that we had that dropped this past summer
was called the What the Milwaukee shoe.
And we thought it was a nice, fun, tongue-in-cheek way to sort of say
a little bit of a surprise for the L.A. fans out there
seeing how well the Brewers have been doing.
Yeah, and maybe this will encourage them.
Well, actually, we hope that there isn't, you know,
a game where they have to come back to Milwaukee, but maybe next year
we'll say that to encourage them to come out and go to a game for sure.
And even from like a marketing perspective, I mean,
what a wonderful time to be at Visit Milwaukee.
I mean, it's probably so easy with the team doing so well.
And what other ways are you capitalizing on any taglines
or any flavor that you want to add, not only just in Los Angeles,
but right here in Milwaukee as well?
Yeah, of course, you know,
flavor has been one of our key words all year, actually.
And so it's a big part of what we're doing,
bringing that Milwaukee flavor to the world.
So we're looking to do some other fun things of some nationwide
commercials, if and when the Brewers go to the World Series.
And so we're doing some TV commercials,
some billboards in other markets.
We're already making plans for whether it be Tampa or Cleveland.
So some potential opponents here at next round.
But we just want to celebrate Milwaukee every single way.
We think the Brewers do a great job of bringing that sort
of same elements that make our city great, right?
Hospitality, teamwork, relentless spirit.
You know, that's the things that make this team so special.
I think our locals see ourselves in the team every single day.
We want to share that with the world.
We want the world to know what Milwaukee is all about.
And certainly a lot of eyes are going to be on the city.
There are a lot of eyes on the city now.
So when the broadcasters are talking about Milwaukee,
we want to put the best foot forward.
So we're encouraging our local partners to decorate their businesses,
decorate their shops, decorate your home, right?
We want to share those stories on social media.
This has been playing huge all across the country.
Our impressions, our reach has been higher than ever
as the Milwaukee Brewers continue to win.
People are ready for this story.
They're ready for the Milwaukee story,
and we want to be a part of that and help showcase and amplify it.
Yeah, you brought up a really beautiful message because I feel like
the locals really do relate and connect with this team so well.
And it is driving a lot of traction.
I mean, I've seen so many Padres fans, even Dodgers fans now
that are coming through Milwaukee for those home games.
What does it mean, though,
for businesses to have the Brewers be doing so well this year?
Yeah, it's such an economic boost for our city.
An average playoff game is about five million dollars extra
of economic spending in our
community whether that's through people coming to the game
and going to the stadium or maybe
they're just coming to some of the watch parties all around the area
or you know as you were talking
earlier maybe people are just gathering
in their homes right friends and family coming in from out of
town to be in the city as the history unfolds
to see the decorations around the city so the
economic impact goes far beyond just what's happening
in the stadium it's a great boost for
our community here all throughout the city.
We've already been looking into the next round and some
of our partners in the industry
who've hosted World Series matchups have seen that five million
dollar number go as high as 15 to 20 million.
So if we get to the World Series we're going to see
even a bigger pop, more fans in town, more spending,
great for business. Yeah and businesses are really
embracing that. One of our reporters is at the Bobblehead Museum
and they have so many
bobbleheads ready to go there's a Jacob Mizerowski one
a Jack Centurio one so it's really cool to see
members of the community embracing that for sure
and Josh I know you've been with Visit Milwaukee
for a little while now and we've seen
this every year where the Brewers I mean they've proven to
us that they are such an amazing team
but what does it mean for you now to see this team doing
so well I mean I have a much more confidence
this year than I did last year I mean we're
this week we could possibly sweep oh yeah certainly you know
for for me um and I can speak on behalf of
all of Visit Milwaukee you know we we're
so excited the the tension the energy um we're ready
for it uh we haven't i have i personally have
not doubted this team for a while uh you know the best
record in baseball says a lot
and what they've been able to do the last few years of building
every year getting better every year uh it just feels like
this is this is the year the energy
feels different even going all
the way back you know we we're very uh delighted and uh honored
to be a part of Christian Yelich's uh charity concert you can see
the poster behind me um and
every year we're a part of that and the players come together
for that charity concert this year
the concert was held back in the spring and even
then it felt like the players knew something
before we did right and so they've
been playing amazing all year we're ready and that look i put
a lot of people have said hey what do you think
you know fans and other teams are feeling what
do you think other cities are feeling the amount
of texts i'm receiving from across the country
from our industry peers people in tourism saying we're cheering
on the Brewers i think this has
become a national story i think we're becoming america's team
this postseason i couldn't agree
with you more and i always i love
when people are like milwaukee's a top five city like it's a lot
of people have slept on it for so long i went to school in new york
and they were like oh i didn't
even know what milwaukee is i'm like well now you're gonna know
because we're we're doing so
well and I'm looking at these billboards it's
so cool and I know you said it brought a lot of
traction and that you're already doing mock-ups
for things if it's Cleveland or Tampa and if
obviously the Brewers do make it
to the World Series anything you could tease for us that
you're working on? Oh certainly yeah it'll
be a similar vein of you know a little tongue-in-cheek
fun a little what the Milwaukee one of our taglines
is that's that flavor and one of the
other taglines with our shoe project that we did has
been why not Milwaukee and that's something
that that shake uh who we partnered
with the local uh boutique sneaker store owner uh has teased for
a while you know we we say it all the time why
not Milwaukee you know why not Milwaukee for the
best team in baseball why not Milwaukee
for the best culinary city in America uh why not Milwaukee
for your next vacation and so we're really leaning
into that and we're we think people are really
gonna to wake up you said people might be sleeping
on Milwaukee it's time for them to wake up yeah
it's a sleeper city but won't be for long it is time
for them to wake up i love that Josh anything
else you want to add that you feel like
is important for people to know? I think it's go
Brewers. I could not agree with you more.
Go Brewers. I'm excited to see what you guys come
up with when the Brewers do, fingers crossed,
make it to the World Series. Josh, thanks so
much for joining us here on Fox 6 Now.
