Mother confesses to 911 operator in daughter's death, sources say

We have some details just breaking before the 4 o'clock here. First of all, police sources have told Fox 5 News that the little girl's mother called 911 and that she told the operator that she killed her child. I just spoke to a man who says he's the little girl's grandfather. He gave us this photo. Let's take a look at this little girl. The family says this is 5-year-old Fabiana Cabello. The grandfather says she was a child who was loved very much. She lived with him and other extended family, also with mom, from what I understand, in a multi-generational home structure. Now, the NYPD says officers responded to the home after a 911 call about an assault at the address in South Richmond Hill, Queens. It was just before 7 o'clock last night. You're looking at video from yesterday. Now, when police got here, they say they found out the five-year-old girl was unconscious and unresponsive. The grandfather, whose name is Franklin Cabello, says he was home in his room and all of a sudden he realized something terrible happened and police were there on their way. This is what he had to say to us. The grandfather clearly beside himself because of this ordeal. He spoke mostly Spanish, some English, trying to express just how heartbroken he and the rest of the family are right now. Now, we got video from a neighbor. It's from a home surveillance system. You're looking at it. You could see police and several people. This was likely right after that 911 response. The NYPD telling us the child was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Police say she was transported in critical condition and then pronounced deceased at the hospital. The NYPD telling us no arrests have been made yet. police say the office of the chief medical examiner will be determining the cause of death now police sources have told fox 5 news that yes these are the names of everyone involved so we got these names from the family specifically from that man who says he's the grandfather and also from police sources now the grandfather told me that mom was dealing with some psychiatric issues from what I was able to gather in that conversation, in that interview with the grandfather, mom was institutionalized for a while and was just cleared by doctors, he said, to come back home. He says he believes that his daughter was not taking her medication. This is an investigation, Teresa, that's ongoing. It is a heartbreaking tragedy to cover.
