Okay, I love this so much, and so did the internet.
A local girl dad is going viral after dancing
and singing along with his daughters at an Olivia Rodrigo concert.
Gunnar Rattle and his daughters, Rosie and Lucy,
are here to tell us all about that unforgettable night
that everyone cannot stop talking about.
We want to welcome this beautiful family into Good Day, D.C. right now.
Hi, guys!
Hi, guys!
Yes, hello!
Hi!
It's so good to see you guys.
I feel like now, especially having gone viral,
this is like second nature for you, Dad.
What's it been like here getting so much attention with your girls?
It's been a little bit overwhelming,
but I was happy that people, it made people happy.
And I was happy that a lot of the comments were about ear protection,
which I'm really passionate about.
Because you can have fun, but have safe fun.
So was this, obviously you're there with the girls,
was this just an organic moment for you?
You're just like, were you showing the girls a good time
or were you just getting into it yourself?
We go to a lot of concerts together.
That's honestly my favorite thing about being their dad.
It's like Disney on ice Avril Lavigne
We've been to Bruce Springsteen twice
and this is just how they always act at that concert.
It's just somebody caught it on video
Okay, so I believe we have a birthday girl
in our midst here. Am I right?
Tell us your name, sweetie, and how old are you gonna be turning here?
I'll take this. She's got one, Mikey. Okay, cool
Yeah, so what do you love about Olivia Rodrigo
Why is she one of your favorite artists?
She looks like you.
And with that, there's this sense of pride.
I saw an identity that she relates to over and beyond the music.
Yes.
Dad, I got to ask.
So when you go to old school dances, do you have one
that you always go to, whether it's a moonwalk or what have you?
Golly.
I mean, I was dancing that way because I was trying to keep
the seat down so that they could both stand on the seat
of the Capital One Arena so they could both see the concert.
And so most of my dances are safety first
and just keeping them engaged.
That's a major dad move.
What did you make of your dad's dance moves?
Is he a little bit too silly?
Do you want to talk?
He's a little bit too silly.
What was your favorite part of the concert?
When her dress melted off.
Oh, that's so great.
Do you have a favorite song as well?
Which one?
Chopped Dead.
Chopped Dead.
And what about you?
Do you have a favorite song?
What is it?
Driver's License?
Yeah, there you go.
You know every word, right?
Dad, let me ask you, you were trying to get these tickets
for six months, and then it seems like everything just came down
to the wire, and then boom, you got them.
What was that like?
We got taken off the wait list the night before the concert,
so we got them face value, and we were 10th row side stage.
Wow.
And it was just wonderful.
Although it was her second time seeing Olivia Rodrigo.
We got to see her in New York once, and this one was too little,
so this was finally her turn came up.
That's so cool.
I love the tour shirts that the girls are rocking as well.
So you said you go to a lot of concerts with the girls.
Why is that experience so important for the whole family?
I'm just trying to just show them the world of music and give them joy.
I think it also teaches them about crowd safety
and crowd dynamics because that's so important.
I'm from New Jersey, and so I was just in New York a lot.
And if you can navigate a crowd,
I think it's a big confidence booster for kids too.
How important is it to you to take them to different concerts
and to expose them to different music?
Because the list of concerts that you've been to,
like, they range all over the place.
Oh, yeah.
And, I mean, of course, the best ones are with Mommy, too.
But we go to country concerts.
We went to ABBA, Thomas Rhett.
And it's just, yeah, there's a world of music,
and they're just scratching the surface.
Who gets control of the music in the car?
Oh, golly.
We take turns.
But, honestly, it's mostly them.
It's mostly them.
They're my biggest musical influence.
Oh, I love that.
I love your story completely.
Guy, you're probably the only one, he was talking about safety.
You're probably the only one who will remember
there was a song called The Safety Dance,
which was played by me back in the old days.
I think Dad's put a whole new spin
on the safety dance here with the kids at the arena.
That is just so awesome.
Real quick before we go, the biggest concert,
if you could, would you take them to?
The artist.
Oh, golly.
Probably if Olivia Rodrigo does her festival again next year,
that would be a good one.
Really?
Yeah, or maybe even Coachella, you know?
you got some huge fans here uh you got to keep making them happy
but maybe a future singer or
musician right here in the mix you never know i hope
so i hope so yeah thank you so much i'm so
glad you had a good time yeah that's awesome just feel all
the joy from you guys thanks for being
here
