sOcIaL fIsHsTaNcInG- Searching for Steelhead, Catching THOUSANDS of Fish!

She's brisk, she's a brisk one this morning boys and girls. Negative six it says. Time to get the old toucan on my bald head. All right, so I am legally allowed to go fishing. I have my fishing license. I am not camping. I'm allowed to access where I'm accessing. In fact, I'm sure there will be other people there because everyone knows the steelhead are running right now. The only thing is I can't go into Lake Superior Park to fish which is normally where I would access rivers that flow in to Lake Superior, because that's where all the steelhead are right now. So we have to find another spot to go to, or a couple different spots to go to that are either before the park or after the park, so I'm driving all day. On the other side of the Sioux now, heading down the big old hill. Still makes your ears pop, it's so big. Really start to see the Algoma Highlands back, nice hills, very pretty area, Especially in the fall, this whole place is lit up with red. Red and yellow. Looks like we got another fisherman right in front of us. There's some big puddles, so he's going a little bit slower. CRV, I like those CRVs. Stop off my car, it's too noisy. Okay, cool, here we go. The stranger, the stranger in front of me happened to be Boosh. It's crazy that we just found each other out here, eh? How's it going? Yeah, it's going well. Few casts, no luck. I'm gonna walk up here a little bit there's a bend in the river Bush is using the row and yarn and all that I'm just gonna I'm gonna stick with my spoon for now use two different methods and see what works I don't know how to do that other thing so this is what I'll do so it's kind of joking around about me and Bush staying a far apart but it's important even even out here like we're not we're not going next to each other or not like I'm here in my truck he's over there in his vehicle I've cast a few lines in no luck obviously apart from the course he's setting his stuff up you know we're shooting this business from back back and forth from from here so we are keeping far apart we're not coming in contact at all nobody else is out here that's good but we're gonna head on to another spot I'm sure because there ain't no fish here told the steelhead don't really bite too much in this cold weather it's probably negative 5 out right now so the Sun is out it's getting warmer what are the rainbow trout in shape and size the coho are or the chinook what do say bush the next one on the next one bud well we're on to the next one it's still negative seven outside it's 10 37 in the morning we spent too much time there but we hadn't seen each other in a long time neither of us have seen people in a long time other than our families, so we were shooting the, we were talking for a long time, fished a little bit and then it's time to go find another spot because that wasn't panning out so it was pretty shallow in there, you know what I don't know. It just didn't seem, didn't seem on. But anyway, we're gonna go. Bush is gonna grab a pair of waders and We are going to go walk up a river. Ice on the lake still. Daypack walk away shot, Boosh. This is a nice little pool here. Try to fish this. Deeper than the last spot, so we'll see. How is this tilted? Should I have it up down? That's kind of straight where you're looking. A little bit, yeah. Probably good? I think that's good. Okay. It's like straight at me. Well, you know what I'll just watch it back. Anyway, I'm sure it's fine. Okay. Thank you All right, ----. I'm not sure. Uh, yeah, no doubt I'd rather have a sound thing like a bang perfect good that's exactly what i would i would want more so than any kind of like spray or 100 one second exactly i totally agree dude that is a small tripod where did you get that right but okay i want to get one right that's half the size of my smallest one So is mine. No, I broke it three of them. I get it. It's worth it. Yeah, it's worth it for the light you just buy those in bulk Why not? All right guys, no luck here. It's been a nice spot very scenic, but we're gonna hike Down the river and try and find some other pools and we'll stop for a lunch real soon, too Turned out to be a beauty day a little nipple still but beauty That's a nice pool man Boosh fished all that pool with no luck at all. Yeah, I don't wanna drop this camera. She's got some half to her, what's that? It's just super shallow here, so I thought it was a good spot, but. Boosh just said, it's high stakes when you have electronics on you, that's the thing. It's not that it's a hard walk, we're just trying to be super careful. The camera's hanging off us and everything. They remind me of little bells, like little Christmas tree ornaments. Uh-oh, oh, that wrapped around that twig. 1 million times i literally watched it just spin around that twig oh my gosh what just happened seven or eight times around that log or twig there's no fish here i see no evidence of fish i can't wait for the okay i can't see that don't sing that well look down the pipe eh boat man boosh uh-oh well we're bushwhacking through the woods now because uh the river got a little dicey we couldn't cross over to one spot so we have to kind of hook around and meet up with it again which is okay so these woods are not too hard to walk through sugar maple bush some ground hemlock or ground uh canada you or ground hemlock canada you all right we couldn't get to where we wanted to go so we're here at an old faithful spot next to highway i actually proposed to will up there like 13 years ago at least the water is moving here it's deep enough where we can cast might go across the the highway and check out the other side the south side you know I have the second set up yeah right now my name is Joe I as well man we were saying it'd be nice to just for one of us just to pull a trout out you know maybe pretty nice but again we're both having a lot of fun anyway it's totally cool it's um that's why they call it fishing not catching go again 10 36 at night same night same night i just saw you folks all right we're headed out i got the word the smelter running we're gonna go see if we can grab a bucket full of fish come on with me i'll redeem myself for today i promise productive yep look at them right there holy smokes for the thumbnail Just for the thumbnail bro, it's all for the crab. I did not sleep long enough, got home about 3 a.m. We split up some of the fish. I didn't take as much as a lot of the people because they have bigger families and we've never done this before, so I don't know if we're gonna botch it. So this is the first time trying. I can always go out tonight again and get more if I want. So again, these are smelt. And what you do with these is cut off the heads, gut them real quick and deep fry them in some batter uh you leave the spine and all that on because it's so small you just crunch through it like a popcorn chicken fish stick kind of thing so will is going to be the lucky girl today to clean these give it to dog you're the tripper no trip oh give the fish to Tripper Autumn get Autumn give fishy to Tripper see sheepy what do you got what Fish. Will and I made a deal I go up and get them and she'll clean them up so I'm just gonna show her to clean them I've never really done this too much before I just just showed last night I've never done smelt fishing so you cut off the head behind the gills I take these two aside can you just hold on one second girl put the scissors guts come out all in one it's nice and easy and get a little rinse if you want and they were telling me last night some people okay come on some people cut off the tails some people like the tails I'm assuming we'll cut the tails off just because we've got girls and little girls in the house some people like the crispiness of the tail but then it's all cleaned out clean better that it's good to go don't try boom right there right yeah It's for the cat. I don't think those scissors are very sharp. No. They're not sharp. We are getting ready to cook some fish. Some smell. OK. Yeah. We're going to crack an egg into the bowl. And we're going to scramble it. Very descriptive. Great. That's what we turned out with. We ended up giving some to a farm down the street because they weren't able to get some. We can go back out tonight, tomorrow night, whatever we want to get more if we want. That looks like plenty for us. I'm not trying to eat smelt for five days straight. You? Nope. We'll see how the kids go with it at all. So we're going to dip the smelt in the egg, do the fish crisp. Got the deep fryer going. Got some, what do we got here? Rice. Rice and beans. Good girl. It's batched in. Yeah, it's spread. A whole plate of fish. We still got a whole stack there. Take a bite, Emmy. Baby, it's so soft. Like, look, I cut Autumn's up into pieces. Look, Emmy, watch. You just eat it. It's good, eh? You want some lemon for it? I'll make everything. She's like, do I like it? No, I love it. She doesn't like being disturbed while she's eating. What do you think?
