This is a question about revenue
and who is best positioned to manage B.C.'s economy.
And so I think British Columbians want to know,
how are you going to make up this gap in B.C.'s revenue?
You know, you report minor taxes like this $225 income tax,
but you're betting everything on fracked gas projects that are owned by
American corporations, backed by equity firms and Trump's inner circle.
So how can we expect British Columbians to believe you?
And how dare you gamble our economy on LNG
when we are looking at every forecast
that BC's projects could be sold at a loss,
that we're going to be the highest cost late market entrance.
This is all going to be past your mandate.
So how do you answer to that?
Thanks. It's an important question.
LNG Canada Phase 2.
I know not everyone's a fan of LNG, and the Green Leader and I share
a number of values around ensuring that we're driving down emissions.
LNG Canada Phase 2 will be 30% better performing
on carbon emissions than the best performing facilities in the world,
and it will generate $28 billion for provincial revenues.
That's money I don't have to come to ask you
and your families in taxes for.
That money provides for schools, hospitals, but it's not just LNG.
You know, we've approved nine mines since we,
in the last 18 months or so,
since we set up the Ministry of Critical Minerals and Mining.
Eight of those are under construction right now.
And so growing the economy, working
in partnership with the Prime Minister,
with the Prosperity Agreement to build our ports,
our roads, ensure our goods get to market,
that's how we're going to address these issues.
Let him in, Mr. President.
The problem is with this narrative,
and I think it's what frustrates most British Columbians,
is that nobody believes you anymore, Mr. Eby.
You've had a decade to take an opportunity
to try to fix what's happening in this province.
Our direct revenue coming from the forest industry now could
be likened to cigarette tax.
It's that low.
Well, Lorne, I know you refuse to acknowledge
the war that Trump is waging on our softwood sector.
The reality is we have seen unbelievable damage in this problem.
yet it will generate 150 jobs. People don't feel the impacts of this.
