Salt-N-Pepa to perform at MOPOP's Icons of Pop Culture Gala

Well, the Icons of Pop Culture Gala returns next week at the Museum of Pop Culture and features a special performance from Salt-N-Pepa. Here to preview the gala is the CEO of MoPOP, Michelle Y. Smith. Michelle, good morning. Thanks for joining us today. Good morning. Thanks for having me. Yeah, you can tell by the smile on my face saying Salt-N-Pepa. That sounds like something I want to see. Can you tell us a little bit about the Icons of Pop Culture Gala and what it is honoring? Sure, the Icons Gala is really honoring who MoPOP is, our four pillars, fashion, film, gaming and music. It's our gala of the year, helps us raise critical funds for our exhibits, our classes and camps, and funding our future. So we're excited to celebrate and have fashion, Jeremy Scott, film, Bruce Lee, and of course music, Salt-N-Pepa, and honoring Halo in our gaming and of our community, One Wing Luke, so it's an exciting night for all of us to come together and celebrate who we are and all those amazing icons yeah it sounds like it's going to be fantastic and this year's theme is the future is now so how did you guys go about choosing that theme well you know we want to put you know everything behind us we're in our third iconic decade of the museum the future is now there are a lot of things changing around the world and we really want to support the power of pop culture. Yeah, for sure. And always a good thing that there's going to hopefully be some proceeds to that. What will that go towards? All the proceeds go towards our operating expenses. So helping us build more exhibits for our guests, helping us expand our educational programs like our classes and camps and funding our future for the museum that we have here right down at Seattle Center. Yeah, it's always an exciting place to go. You have something new, it seems like, all the time. And it's just so interesting and educating. Now let's talk about Salt-N-Pepa. They'll be performing. Do you have to go to the gala to attend the performance? Well, we have performance-only tickets that includes food and beverage for $250. It's the only show for Salt-N-Pepa to be here at MoPOP. They're only doing the show here in the Pacific Northwest. So, we want people to come on down if you haven't seen Salt-N-Pepa, it'll be an amazing time. Yeah. And do you have a favorite song? I'm putting you on the spot here, but I'm just looking through. I mean, 1987 brings me back to Push It or Shoop. I was going to say Push It. Who doesn't like Push It, but also Shoop and many, many more. Yeah, Shoop. I drove my daughter in soccer carpool and when that one came, come on, the girls would start singing it and then I would start singing along with them and they'd say, hey mom, how do you know this song? This is not your era, this is mine, so. All right, anything else you wanna tell us about what's going on there and about Mopop?
