Welcome back. The Atlanta Dream, we're getting ready to head
to San Francisco ahead of the start of the WNBA Finals.
It's the Dream's first Finals appearance in more than a decade,
and they're being sent off with a private event.
And it sounds like a fun one, too.
Let's turn now to Fox 5's Ray Yadena,
who is live outside Gateway Center Arena in College Park,
which has been their home for quite some time.
So let's hear more on that excitement, Ray. Good afternoon.
Good afternoon, Alex. And yeah, you can hear that the music is bumping.
We're slowly starting to see the players kind
of drip-feed from outside of the arena,
heading on to the buses before they head to San Francisco.
And as you mentioned, this is a private event
that's not open to the public.
Right now we see a lot of fans and staff holding signs,
wishing the players the best of luck.
And the Atlanta Dream, which are led
by defensive player of the year Angel Reese,
will head to San Francisco to play the Golden State Valkyries.
Yesterday, the Dream and the Atlanta Hawks announced that games three
and four of the WNBA Finals
will be played at State Farm Arena.
Fans we talked to say that will add to the electricity
and the intensity for the finals.
The Atlanta Dream are making
their first WNBA finals appearance since 2013.
And earlier this morning, we spoke
with some high school basketball players
who waited outside of the arena to have a chance to see the players
before they set off.
We're just really excited to get the opportunity to come
and see them and whatnot.
It means a lot to us girls from Atlanta that play basketball
just to see, you know, the greatness and set the tone.
They, you know, are our inspiration.
So it's really exciting, and it means a lot to us.
Yeah, just to piggyback off what she said, I'm very, very excited.
I'm very proud of them.
A lot of excitement and anticipation for this Atlanta Dream team
making this finals appearance, which tips off on Saturday.
And the Dream tell us that tickets are on sale now.
Reporting live in College Park, Ray Yadena, Fox 5 News.
I don't know what I love more, the fact
that the Dream are headed to the finals
or the fact that they're headed there to T.I.'s bring them out.
I love this. Ray, have fun out there.
Well, this month, the Atlanta Falcons
will honor breast cancer survivors.
Yesterday in Duluth, the team hosted
its 14th annual Dazzle and Dine event.
Ten patients and survivors enjoyed the afternoon of pampering
before sitting down to a meal that Falcons players
and legends prepared and served.
The event is part of the NFL's crucial catch initiative
to raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
It puts things into perspective.
But, you know, you get to meet all these women and talk to these women
and hear their stories and hear the strength that they have.
And it kind of makes you sit back and realize, like, oh, wow,
these women are really strong.
They have strength, perseverance
that I don't even know myself if I have.
So just hearing their stories and just being around them
and spending the night with them is a blessing.
Fox 5's very own Anjali Proctor was the emcee at last night's event.
I know that was a good time.
Look at Freddie Falcon over there showing off his moves.
Let's go ahead and take a moment to check in now with Mark.
