(866) Create Your Own Paint Recipe Book!

Hi everyone. I'm just doing a short video today. I apologize in advance. I've been sick. I hopefully won't cough through this video. But in one of my previous videos I had mentioned just going over a small journal that I've been making. I have just this lined journal. It's a spiral bound so it's really convenient to open up the cover and get to each page. And I have been creating just a little recipe book with lot of the newer style that I've been doing with the acrylic inks and the rubbing alcohol I've been mixing a lot of my own colors and to help me keep track of what I've added and proportions that I've added I've started just writing down specifically what I use and then I've been taking a little sample of my paper and just putting it in to my book so that I can keep track of different shades that I've been doing in some of my newer recipes I'm using quite a bit of different colors to get the right shade that I wanted so this green and this peachy color I'm adding a few different types of inks and then I've actually also been using some liquid acrylic paint to get the shades that I I want. So this is just a really simple and easy way to keep track of what you're doing. One thing I like with the spiral is if you actually have paint samples that you want to put in, you can just open up to a new page and just keep it open and let the paint dry while you are keeping your recipe. So for this one, this was actually a purple that I mixed up. I used titanium white, dioxazine purple, a little bit of carbon black, unbleached titanium, and then I added a little bit of gray. So, you know, quite a few different colors to get this shade of purple. I just like to cut down my little sample so that it'll fit right in my book. And then I actually have some double-sided tape so I just take a little piece of the tape just put it right on my paper and then put it right in my book so this is just a really easy way that I've been keeping track of what I've been doing and it's kind of nice especially I use a lot of blues and as you can see I have a lot of different shades so this one I use Prussian blue this one was an indigo I used indigo for this one but I also added more white and unbleached titanium so I created more of a grayish blue so there's just a lot of different shades of colors that I've been using and just to keep track I just have this nice little notebook so this has been really helpful for me my husband has been telling me to do this for years now and with these so that I can get back to the same shades that I'm really enjoying this has been really useful especially like one of these colors this peach color I have been mixing up so many different shades of this and figuring out whether or not I wanted on the more orange side with adding more yellow or if I wanted on the more pink side with adding more red and then also adding in either more white or gray to just really change that hue of color it's been really really helpful so you could do you know any kind of journal you could also make your own journal but just start keeping your own recipe of colors that you're using so that you can go back to the colors that you really like and then just reuse those you could also use this as a guide so if you're mixing up a color palette for one painting and you have four or five different colors. You could put a color sample of each of those down, ratios of your pouring mediums that you used, how much water you used, and what's working for you and what's not. I know some people do this because certain pouring mediums work better for them than others and they have a very specific ratio of how much pouring medium to paint and water that they use so just having something like this where you can keep notes you can keep track of your colors and your recipes and this has just started being really useful for me so I just wanted to share it's something very easy but I hope this helps a little bit with your own creations and thank you guys so much for watching
