The construction of a dam on the Euphrates River in Turkey threatened the very existence of Zeugma, one of the largest cities of the Roman Empire. In July 2000, the ancient city was doomed to be submerged under 40 meters of water.

Faced with this emergency, a multidisciplinary team of specialists embarked on a true race against time to rescue the priceless remains of centuries of Mesopotamian history.
