Hey guys, we are at a commercial building
the heat's not working, I know that one of these is a
heat pump on the roof and the other one is a gas pack
as you see both of the gases are turned off
but before I get the Albany utilities out here
to turn on the gas, I'm gonna get up on the roof
and check out this gas pack
and make sure it's okay for me to turn
on the gas, stay tuned, I gotta
kind of put my ladder up at an odd angle like
that because of the pitch of this side wall roof
call that but it does
make it hard to get the
ladder in a very safe
angle and position this
is the part that I don't like because
this is not even touching the top, getting up here can
cause it
to slide, I'm sorry I
just I don't like it
I made it, I might not
make it all safe but I
made it, okay this one is a heat
pump and seems to be working, used
to be a gas pack, it is no longer
that is
frequently
covered
in
moisture
what this
holds
water
right
here let's
see if we
even have
power cap
in a box
i remember
that
disconnect
down there
because i
told them
to get an
electrician
up
here to fix that because i wasn't messing with it it
was holding water right there all right we got
240 this thing doesn't
look too old let's see
do you see any flashing
lights right there i do not
i had turned on the
heat down below so i
should have some
kind of flashing
light let's see if
we're if we are even getting
a call forgive me
y'all i'm getting
a call all right all right i'm
getting 27 volts i got a call on white i know
the gas is turned off downstairs or on the ground
i just want to make sure it's going
to go through the process of trying to light up
it may have
already timed out
while i was fiddling
with that ladder all
right that does come on
let's wait and see if it'll try
to spark yes let's kill
the power and check
this heat exchanger
y'all forgive me i got
another call i'm thinking
about going back to using
one of those AI answering
services the last one i used
though um just quit working one day
um it was taking calls and doing
all the right thing on the customer's end
but it wasn't communicating anything with me and this was
going on for like a week before i figured it out
um and then it took them it was like a month of
complaining
for them to finally
fix it there's brown
black blue red
these right here
the system
does not look old
at all let me see 11 years
old maybe it's because it's
on a roof it looks better
all right we
have this a
stainless
steel heat
exchanger it's
got some dust
on it this thing
fires up all that's going to burn off i'm feeling
anything that would make me suspect this is bad
so go
to my high limit
and then we have
orange brown
black blue red
leave this open
for right now
the top
of the
unit
to um be
able to
get this
piece
back
in place
i think
we're
okay
to um
get some gas up here turn this off real quick i
know i'm gonna have to bleed the lines and this
is a long gas line
this is gonna go
the other way now
let's go down and see
if they have turned our
gas on for us
that top
part's
a little bit
scary they
have taken
their little
zip ties off
for me
all right when you
turn this on you hear
that i cannot turn
this on there's
a gas leak here
somewhere i'm going to show you
while i do this watch these little
needles right here that's what
tells the story because those are the ones
that are going to move the fastest and i'm going to
crack this open if i had a tight
gas line that should not be
happening so um there's a major
gas leak somewhere i've got i've got some real locks
for this so i'm going to put a lock on it
and notify the owners of the building
yeah that that's pretty major
so now nobody can turn on the
gas i'll notify the Albany utilities that this is locked
and there's a major gas leak so maybe they
can find a way to red tag this until it's fixed okay
my loosening of this fitting had nothing to
deal with that because i had
the gas turned off if you see i've got kind
of a here's another gas
cock locating
a leak like
this that
might be under
the house
or above
a drop ceiling
i'm probably
going to get a gas company to do it make sure it's fixed
and then come back because that's
that's dangerous all right so the frustrating part about
this for me is that i reported this
exact same problem
like six months ago
and i was told it was fixed
so what happened is the gas
company came out here said oh they're both
electric they don't need gas and they just
what y'all saw out there that was their way of turning off the gas
so it was never fixed so here
we are six months later we've got
the exact same problem it's frustrating for me because i've
already dealt with this one time i thought it had been fixed
when i came up here this time
apparently not the last time i was out here
and found this thing leaking i looked all through
the building for like a disconnected appliance
or something like that and nothing else ran on gas
i didn't find anything that i could fix like there would
be on the floor or in a utility room
and now because it's such a massive leak the way
that i would go about trying to find it would be
disconnecting the gas line right here
at the meter taking this elbow off and using a couple
adapters right there so you can pressurize with air
or nitrogen and then you would need a second
person inside or under the building or on the roof listening
because a leak that big is going to make
noise. I think it's a broken line somewhere
so my imagination is that wherever this leak is
the line is completely open there's no leak it's broken
or something like that so that requires
like two people and um probably more time than i could invest in it
so that's one of the reasons
that i am referring this to a plumbing company
or a gas company i hope you enjoyed the video
if you did how about like
and subscribe comment hype it do all that good stuff
those things really do help i'll catch you on the next one
