18 TV Heartthrobs of the 80s & 90s A Nostalgic Then and Now

From Teen Dreams to Today: Harry Hamlin, David Hasselhoff, Philip Michael Thomas, Kirk Cameron, Dean Cain, Grant Show, Andrew Shue, Corbin Bernsen, Antonio Sabàto Jr., Thomas Calabro, James Van Der Beek, Josh Holloway, Wentworth Miller, Michael Vartan, Scott Speedman, Kerr Smith, Shane West, and Benjamin McKenzie.
These men ruled television screens as the ultimate heartthrobs through unforgettable roles: the suave lawyer Michael Kuzak, lifeguard Mitch Buchannon racing across beaches, Miami Vice's cool Rico Tubbs, Growing Pains' charming Mike Seaver, the definitive 90s Superman, and Melrose Place's brooding Jake Hanson, plus beloved characters from Dawson's Creek, Lost, Prison Break, and The O.C.
Fast-forward to 2025, and their journeys couldn't be more different. While some like Hasselhoff embrace their iconic status with nostalgic tours and European TV success, others took dramatic career pivots—Andrew Shue abandoned Hollywood entirely to become a media mogul and social activist, Kirk Cameron transformed into a faith-based filmmaker, and Wentworth Miller stepped behind the camera as a screenwriter and advocate. Some continue grinding in guest spots and indie films, others have essentially retired, but all represent a fascinating snapshot of how fame, aging, and personal reinvention intersect in unpredictable ways for the men who once made millions of hearts skip a beat.
