West German Z56 Gas Mask

West German Z-56 Gas Mask, The Z I believe stands for Zivilschutz, meaning Civil protection/Defence in German. The Z-56 was a civil defence mask made by Drager in West Germany, it looks like a cross between the GM-38 and the Drager Simplex, which would make sense as it was produced between the time periods of those two masks.

Originally produced for Civil Defence use, but later abandoned most likely due to costs and the low survivability of Mutually Assured Destruction.

A cool quite creepy looking mask.
