Flydubai Flight FZ1073 turned into a terrifying cockpit crisis when Omani co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami allegedly attacked Indian Captain Smit Machchhar during the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight. Machchhar suffered severe head injuries, including a fractured skull, but managed to open the cockpit door as the aircraft rapidly lost altitude, allowing passengers and crew to intervene.

The investigation has now taken an international turn. Israeli Shin Bet agents are participating in the UAE-led questioning of al-Hammami as investigators examine his alleged plans, radicalisation, contacts and whether anyone else was involved. Reports say he had allegedly considered an attack on a flight to Israel even before joining Flydubai.

Meanwhile, Captain Smit Machchhar's bravery is receiving international recognition. A bipartisan U.S. House resolution has been introduced honouring Machchhar, the crew and passengers who helped prevent the attack. The resolution describes the incident as an act of terrorism but has not yet passed the House.

U.S. President Donald Trump has also said he personally believes Iran was responsible for the attack. That claim remains his stated belief and has not been established by the investigation.

Watch the full report for the latest on Captain Smit Machchhar's recovery, the Shin Bet probe and the growing international investigation into the Flydubai cockpit attack.
