A longtime midwife, who currently serves many Amish mothers in Lancaster County, is working to raise awareness about the importance of getting the MMR vaccine.

On Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced there have been more than 1,000 measles cases reported in the state so far this year. Lancaster County has seen the highest number of cases, with 383 reported to date.

"Every mother I've taken care of has either had the measles, has had children who have had the measles, her husband has had the measles, or she's had family members who have had the measles," Roberta Devers, a midwife of 38 years, told Action News in an interview on Monday evening.
