Supporting Families

Under the leadership of Secretary Kennedy, HHS will always stand in support of children and families.
Today, Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Assistant Secretary Adams and Director of National Health Communications Dr. Haridopolos announced that expectant parents are now eligible to receive federally-funded services that teach parenting skills, strengthen mental health, and address substance use disorder in hopes of preventing unnecessary entry into foster care.
These prevention services are now available for moms and dads whose baby is determined to be a "candidate for foster care." Providing support to a struggling parent before a baby is born strengthens families and reduces the risk of a child welfare involvement in the future.
