Hi guys, welcome to our first YouTube live.
We have been doing Instagram lives, but we moved it to YouTube.
So, for our first one, I would love to invite Chloe to join and this angle is better, okay.
So we would like to, I'm going to have Chloe join, we're going to talk about all things
at home workouts because we've been doing a lot of at home workouts right now.
We are just going to be talking about what we do and answer some questions that some
of you guys submitted through our newsletter, who are subscribed to our newsletter.
So if you haven't subscribed to our newsletter, we will put the details on how to do so below
in the description.
So let's get Chloe, admit Chloe, hi, can you hear me?
I can, you look nice, oh gosh, so do you, much nicer than I do.
You look great, so don't even say that.
So thanks for doing our first YouTube live, is this it, okay, good, recording, we are
going, I did a little intro before you got here and so yeah, we're going to talk about
all things at home workouts today and we asked some questions to some of our newsletter subscribers
too, so we'll answer, to me with the hair touching, I just want you to know, it's distracting,
no, no, no, you're turning it, oh, with the hair, yeah, you're the old, straight too,
you know why?
Because this is hair from just taking a shower and letting it dry and sleeping on it and
so I haven't even brushed my hair today, oh my gosh, my hair look like that, no, so
I feel like it's like bothersome, like I just had my push meeting this morning, it was more
like this and I was wearing pajamas, you look so sexy, wear it like that, so okay, what
should we talk about?
We're going to talk about at home workouts, so you know, your workout playlist that you
made for push is one of our, I think it's our top playlist of all time and let me just
tell your push viewers out there, I literally had to beg you to let me do the playlist at
first, I was like, oh please, I want to, I want to, you were like, I need to do a playlist,
I was like, can I do one and then you let me do it, I actually listened to it working
out the other day because I was working out outside and I was doing running back and forth
sprints and I put it, your, what's it called, I think it's, oh beast mode, oh I had another
one I started for you, wasn't it push it real good or, yeah, did you ever put that one on,
I can't remember, I blocked it, it wasn't, it's not good yet, okay, well you can share,
you can definitely do another one if you feel inspired, I do, I love workout playlists but
my music is a little more amped than I think, it's not super poppy but there's the mix of pop
but that's just, everyone has their own workout language and mine is a little bit of Meek Mill,
Rick Ross and then like some Doja Cat, like I need a little bit of everything, hmm, okay,
old school Biggie in there, we get Biggie, we get total, Biggie is my jam, like for working out,
I need old school Biggie, that's what I've been listening to lately, like the, there's this one
song with Lil Kim, I forgot what it's called, it's Get Money, is that Biggie, okay, so I thought it
would be cool to discuss how we tackle our at-home workouts and what's your favorite,
like what's your favorite form of working out at home, I mean you work out at home anyways,
so I work at home but before I never really cared to invest in like workout equipment,
I was like, oh, I'll always go to the gym and I had a great membership at Equinox and I loved it,
I went through all the time and then I ended up buying my first treadmill and then like one piece
and I realized and it's just in my garage, I realized, oh my gosh, I use this all the time
and then it was just so convenient, you don't really have excuses and but now you don't even
need workout equipment, literally people are so creative, you can do the craziest things with
bands, jump ropes, I love a jump rope, literally you need a 30 minutes max and that's with breaks
in between and you will be shredded and amazing. Did you know also a jumping rope is twice the
time that it takes, so like if you run for 30 minutes, it's equal to jump roping for 15,
so that's what I love about a jump rope, my whole summer in Italy when I was eating pasta
and ice cream and you know, baskets of focaccia daily, I would just jump rope for 20 minutes,
I would do 10 minutes and then in between, I would switch it up though but I would try to
do 10 minutes straight or as long as I could then do like push-ups, sit-ups, squats, you know,
a little butt workout on the floor, I would always mix it up, so I didn't get bored and
then I would try to do 10 more or do 4 sets of 5 minutes, if it's extra special, I would do 25
minutes total but no, it's really like jump roping is so good for you and but it does take practice
and the more you do it, the better you become but there's just so many different things you
can do nowadays and that's what I'm really grateful for, I mean today, I went ran down
the hill and then ran back up with True on a wagon and she was on like, it was, she was tied
around my waist so I had to lug her back up the hill but there's things you can do, she's 30
pounds, so like she's yeah, basically weights in a wagon, I'll send you the video, I'm going to post
it soon and she's you know, like she's my weights, there's things you can do and right now, it's hard,
you don't have babysitters or daycare, the things that moms normally do to have a little, their head
to get a little clear, so we still owe ourselves that clarity time and so if it does take putting
your kids on a wagon or in a bike with them, putting some headphones on, so you're still zoning
out a little, I think we all deserve those moments and yes, it's way more hectic and I think with
everything being so uncertain, we need those times even more for ourselves. Yeah, I've been taking the
kids in the backyard and then I'll run up and down my hills, so while they're playing, you know, I'll
run the hills and I'll be like, okay, run the hills 10 times, I have these steep hills for those of you
who don't know, Chloe's familiar with them in the backyard or we, I got bikes for Christmas for me
and the kids a year and a half ago and we've never rode them once and you obviously see me riding
them because we go past your house but I ride them now, you know, we ride them every day, now we ride
our bikes and it's just like, even if it's not for a long time, I think it's just being really active
like, you know, I have a pool, so that's like another great one is to swim laps, so I'll do
that when I'm in the pool with the kids and make it a game, like rain likes to ride on my back while
I'm swimming laps. No, and it's awesome and I'm a big believer of a body in motion stays in motion,
the more that we are keeping our bodies healthy and working, stop trying to laugh.
Body in motion stays in motion. But it's true. No, it's true. But you just have to laugh.
It's so, of course, we have a cliche quote. It's not a cliche. No, it's a true quote, okay, it's a
true, true quote. Okay, we're gonna do our first question, which is a question from
ATMMMM. Oh, how do you find the motivation to start working out, becoming more active and
keeping it on days that seem to drag you physically and mentally? You can go first if you'd like.
Thank you. When I first started working out, it was agony. Like when I was heavier and when I was
more unhealthy, I had no idea what I was doing. I think I started two days a week for like the
first two weeks and then I advanced to Monday, Wednesday, Friday. And I believe in you can't
get it all in a day. You can't, you have to listen to your body. And yes, sometimes our eyes are
bigger than our stomach, if you will. Like we think, oh, I can do that. That's a breeze. Let
me do X, Y, and Z. And then you're so exhausted or you're hurt or you're too sore that it
discourages you from going back the next day. So I think you have to set small milestones and then
reward ourselves. Wow, I haven't worked out ever. And now I'm going to start Monday and Friday.
And then you have to like praise yourself and maybe watching what you're eating during that
time, but start slow. And that's the key. I think everyone just thinks, oh, I'm going to work out
and I'm going to lose all this weight in two months. It doesn't work that way. It's really
a lifestyle change. But if you do it, if you do it too drastically, most people can't do things
cold turkey, you got to, I think, ease yourself into it. And there's a method to that. And that's
why I think if you make it a lifestyle and do small changes throughout the month, and then
the next month you set different goals. And then the month after that, you add on to those goals
and keep doing that. That's always what I say to people who are trying, like it's going to be a
long journey, but it's going to be the most rewarding journey. And then you're never going
to feel like it's too much to handle. Yeah. I know for me, if I don't schedule my workouts,
then I don't get the, I don't get them done. Even if I might think, okay, if the whole day,
you know, I'll get it, I'll get it. And at some point, I just have to know a time,
just like I schedule a zoom meeting or, you know, anything that I'm doing throughout the day,
I just try to schedule my workout. And even if it's like, okay, the kids have PE now that we've
been doing homeschool, I will usually work out at that time. And even if they're playing and being
active, like in one space, I'll do like, I'll just start doing jumping jacks or something like,
even if it's, I think it's just being active, but really for me, if I don't schedule it,
it's not going to happen. I do agree with that. Like if I'm paying a trainer to be there,
I mean, during this time, it's challenging without a gym or a trainer, but in normal times,
if I'm paying someone, I'm going to get my money's worth. Like, I don't want to pay for
that cancellation fee. So that's normally always a guarantee for me is that I'm not paying for
the cancellation fee. I'm just going to suck it up and go. Agree. And when I schedule it,
it's usually with the trainer, but I'm just saying like, you know, just scheduling it.
If it's not that, then it's like having that. And I think also being creative with little things,
like I said, like, like Jesse always tells me this is way before this. She told me this years
ago, she'll like brush her teeth while doing crunches in the bathroom. Or like I have a thing,
especially when I travel is I always do dips on the bathtub, you know, in my, before I get in the
shower. And it's just like a thing before I get in the shower, I would do a hundred squats and,
and dips on the bathtub, like at least 25. And I would try to then do it when I get out too
and do a hundred squats. You've been doing that since you've been a teenager.
Exactly. Consistency. Okay. Next question from Jessica with four A's one 26,
what's the best workout to tone your legs?
Um, well, I mean, I think squats or lunges is amazing, but if you want to do a, or jump rope,
that's like a full body thing, but I really think doing the stairs, if you want to go on a hike
during this time, I think hiking is awesome because it does calves, quads, hamstrings,
glutes. And then by standing upright, you're working your core. Cause if you focus on making
sure your core is tight, it will always, your abs will be like the second muscle that it's working.
And I think for me, like, I love doing walking lunges. Um, like I have these stairs outside,
um, that like we'll do jump squats onto the stairs, like up the stairs and then run,
walk back down the stairs, do jump squats up the stairs, walk back down the stairs. That's,
I think such a good one, but that's for your butt and legs. And I think it's great. But I think what
people have to know is if they are wanting to build, they have to make sure they're consuming
the right amount of food. And you should always eat about 30 minutes after your workouts. If you
want to build specifically, you should be eating tons of protein. Um, and so it is your, of course,
what you put into the gym, you're going to get out. But for some people it's easier to work out.
And for some people it's easier to figure out their diet. I am someone I would work out for
six hours a day if I had to, and I would rather eat more freely. So I'm definitely better in the
gym than I am in the kitchen. Better in the gym than you are in the kitchen. Is that another quote?
No, it was just much better in the gym than I am in the kitchen, except I'm so good. I make the
healthiest shake right after every day. I start really well. I do a really good salad.
No, I think you eat amazingly. I think you're insane if you think otherwise.
Um, I think yeah. Okay.
Um, okay. Next question is a few people asked about working out and hair
at Annabelle. Zachay Zachay says, what do you do to not wash your hair after every exercise?
As someone that exercises five days a week, I struggle with what to do with my sweaty hair,
to not have to wash it every single day. I do dry shampoo that only helps give an extra day or so
any tips are greatly appreciated. Um, I have a great one for this. Oh, I lately, this is old.
I've only been doing this since quarantine time is I just rinse my hair with water and I take it
after you're going to Chloe. It's a great, it's a good one today. Hair is washed. I will say it's
but what I do is I, especially cause I haven't been seeing anyone. So I rinse my hair with water.
Then it has my hair's natural oils and then I can slick it, slick it with a silk scrunchie.
I put the silk scrunchie in so that it helps with not tearing, you know, not damaging your hair.
And that's just been my jam. And I dry it after with our, um, Aquis, Aquis, I always say it wrong
hair towel turban. First, I usually do a face mask, then let, then I just take it down,
put it up in a bun, but I keep it then all the time slicked with my natural hair greens.
My God, this is a lot, but that's it. It's so easy. I just rinse it with water is basically
the answer, but you have to be careful not to get it on your pillow because you don't want to
break out. So I will also sleep with the silk side of the hair turban on my hair to help protect my
hair and just sleep like that. You're comfortable. Yeah. Wow. Good, good. I might try this. My thing
is I like normally the beginning of the week is when I like wash and blow dry my hair. And then
but today I haven't done any things, so I'll probably do it tomorrow. Um, but that's why my
hair is slicked back. It's all greasy and gross, but like, you have to go like, okay, the beginning
is great and always take a clip through my workout and like clip it up. So half of it's
kind of airing out. Then when we get a break, I try to just like hopefully help air dry it.
And then, cause that will prolong your, your hair. And then, yeah, I'm a dry shampoo person.
And then probably Wednesday or Thursday, I'll normally start doing either like a low bun or a
low pony and just, you just work with it. Yeah. I've been doing rocking, like just a slicked bun
at all times or a ponytail. Mine's fine in a ponytail. I definitely don't wash my hair every
day, but I'll just live with it. I used to though, before this. Did your hair get damaged from that?
Yeah. And I mean, not, my hair is never really damaged, but it's like,
so perfect. Um, and I don't color my hair. So I just feel like I have healthy hair,
but my hair is thicker. I feel like because I haven't been, because I haven't been washing
it every day. Okay. Next question is Roxanna Riley. One asks, I hate doing crunches,
but want to lose my gut. What's your favorite ab workout? Hmm. Without crunches, right? I guess.
Okay. What's yours? I mean, I love, I don't love it cause it's probably the hardest ab workout,
but it's the one with the roller that you roll down is super intense on the wheel, on the wheel.
Um, the machine, I mean, if you're, what else? I mean, there's the best is just, I think doing,
um, uh, what's it called? Plank. Plank. Planking is great. You can, I do agree with the wheel.
The wheel's just so hard and you have to be a little more advanced to do that. I mean, the,
the facts are there's no, you can't isolate one area and just lose weight there. You can tone
anywhere. You can't just lose weight in one area. Um, we all wish we could select that,
but we can't, you have to lose overall weight. But I do, man, I'm a big fan of like boxing and
stuff. If you're keeping your abs tight and doing boxing, I mean, that just is a whole overall
workout and that does abs, but you're right. I think planking is amazing. Um, I think jump roping
is good for core as well. And, and as long as you like, you know, hold it tight. And I do think
shoot, I had another good one. Oh my God. The best one for the, your lower abs ever actually
is when you're laying down on the floor and you're, someone's behind you and you're hold
their ankles and they push your feet down. That is top top. And you can also do like Pilates type
moves without a Pilates machine. If you get either those discs that slide on the floor or
good discs are great. Or just if you can't buy those or don't want to, you can put towels on
like a hardwood surface or something that's a little slick and you do that stuff. It's the
same thing. And that will get you to do great cores or hamstrings or butt. I mean, you really
don't need equipment to work out anymore. Okay. Are you ready for our last question?
And then you get to get to be free of me for the day.
Oh, sad. Not really for the day. I'll definitely be calling you.
One more question. We had a lot of people ask about our diets and working out. Elizabeth
Makos asks, what percentage of their amazing figures, ooh la la, attribute to diet versus
exercise? And are there cookbooks that they enjoy for eating clean that they would recommend?
God, I'm sure this answer isn't going to be one that you want. But when I was like, okay,
after I had true, I lost 50 pounds or almost 60 pounds actually now. But I of course dieted after
that. If you're trying to lose a significant amount of weight, yes. Diet and exercise,
they go hand in hand. Now that I'm in my weight vicinity goal, I'm around 150. It goes up a little
when it goes into the one high forties. I'm like, Ooh, it's a dream. But what do you do?
It's a dream. But when I'm in this world, I don't really watch what I eat. That doesn't mean I'm
sitting here binge eating, you know, bags of chips all day. We pretty much, we have good diets, but
I love quesadillas. I love anything true is eating like I'm quesadilla. Did somebody?
I'm like the cookie monster for quesadillas. But I love, you know, just finger like I and I'm not
going to live a miserable life. Like what if? Just what if you never know if tomorrow's happening. So
I would rather put more effort into the gym than the kitchen. But that's currently but if I'm
trying to drop, like I know what to do if I have to buckle down, but I don't drink juices or anything
like that. I drink water or I'll have my Snapple iced teas from time to time. But those are like,
I'm a water drinker. Yeah. Same. Like I choose my calories wisely, I guess I would say like,
I'm not going to drink juice or like the Starbucks that's like a 600 calorie drink. I'm like,
why I would rather have a great piece of cake. Exactly. Great. I'm just saying any any coffee
beverage. But you're a great eater, though, I will say I think for me eating is a lifestyle.
But I do have my times when I like I said, like when I go to Italy, I'm definitely not trying
to eat a certain way. But there's also I love healthy food as well. Like there's great,
you know, like I love a great salad. I love good fruit. I you know, like there's I think I balance
it, I would never just feel okay. You know, I mean, I indulge and I, you know, like I said,
in Italy, eight pieces of cake last week. Totally. No, I just finished four of those cakes in two
weeks. Four cakes in two weeks. But I mean, you know, I I yeah, so whatever, I definitely
we love to bake at our house. I always have, you know, chocolate chip banana bread. And
that's gluten free. Like we eat so many great things. But I think on my lifestyle is to eat
really healthy, like my shake my salad, I kind of have like my same things that I eat.
But when I know that I need to lose weight, or not need to, but if I feel like I like
or something, for me, it's like I know I'm going to Italy and I want to lose a couple pounds first
so I can go crazy. And I think keto works for me. And I definitely will do intermittent fasting
a lot like when I'm really and mine isn't that crazy. I usually just do it from dinner. Like
I'll stop eating after dinner and then I won't eat until let's say after my morning workout. So I'll
do 14 to 16 hours. Um, yeah, but I think it's important to have cheap days, treat yourself
and to have balance in anything you do, but it just depends on where she is on her lifestyle
journey. If it's the start of it, if it is the start of it, you normally do have to buckle down
in the kitchen. But once you get to your goal, you should definitely you it's okay to maintain
and maintaining does not mean depriving yourself of the greatness of life. Like I read this of
life, this of life, I just we've got to have the cake if it's available court.
Exactly. And as far as recipes, we have so many great ones on push. So don't
hesitate to check them out. Um, well, thanks for doing me with Oh, thanks for her.
