Slow Living in Sweden: How Do You Care About the World and Still Live Your Life

SWEDEN
Lately, I’ve been wrestling with a question I couldn’t shake. Is it even okay to enjoy your life right now when the world feels so heavy? Is it selfish to be happy?
I don’t think I’m the only one asking. So, in this video, I wanted to talk about it honestly; the guilt that creeps in on an ordinary good day, and the false choice I keep falling into:either drown in all of it, or look away and feel like I’ve abandoned a world that needs us.
This line of thinking started of all places, with a grandmother I saw skating alone on the ice one gray morning in Stockholm, years ago. She embraced the cold I was bracing against and I’ve spent years trying to understand what she knew.
This is what I’ve come to believe. Caring deeply and living fully are not opposites. You can’t pour from a well that’s run dry. Tending your own life, walking your dog, talking to the people you love, reading a good book, isn’t looking away, it might be the very thing that keeps you whole enough to allow you to keep caring.
So, if you’ve been carrying that quiet guilt too, this one’s for you.
