The Woman Who Keeps Appearing on Sydney's Most Haunted Road

A driver slows down for a woman standing alone on a road with no streetlights, dense bushland pressing in on both sides. By the time they check again, something about the car feels wrong. This is not one story. It's dozens, told by strangers who have never met, describing the same thing, on the same fourteen kilometres of road, for over twenty years.
Wakehurst Parkway sits less than an hour from the Sydney CBD, and the ghost stories didn't build themselves out of nothing. In 1960, items belonging to Graeme Thorne, at the centre of one of Australia's most infamous kidnapping cases, were found along this exact stretch.

A man was killed and dismembered nearby in 1994. A university student was strangled and left near the road in 1995, her killer later convicted in court. A film crew went out to investigate the sightings properly and came back with cast and crew who wouldn't return to the location.
