The mystery of the painting!? Restoration of a 19th century canvas.

Feb 14, 2023
The restoration of a painting by the European artist Fritz Ebel—a 19th-century oil-on-canvas landscape—is complete.
The painting was consolidated, the edges were lined, and the stretcher was repaired. Restoration ground was applied to areas of paint loss, old varnish and overpainting were removed, inpainting was performed on the damaged areas, and a protective layer of varnish was applied. The artist's original intent and color palette have been restored.
