Amazon’s New AI Rules Could Cost You Thousands

Amazon sellers using AI-generated lifestyle images need to pay attention, because Amazon’s new disclosure requirements create a compliance risk that is easy to miss.
In this video, Ruben breaks down Amazon’s new rules around photorealistic AI-generated people used in listing images and A+ Content, including when sellers need to disclose synthetic performers and when the rule does not apply.
The important part is that this is not handled through a simple checkbox inside Seller Central. For qualifying images, the required disclosure has to be embedded directly into the image metadata using the keyword “contains synthetic performer” before the file is uploaded.
Ruben also walks through exactly how to add the metadata in Photoshop, explains how larger catalogs can handle it in bulk, and covers the four major exceptions where the disclosure is not required.
But AI disclosure is only part of the risk. Amazon’s existing main image requirements still apply, and AI-generated images can easily produce backgrounds that look white but are technically grey or contain subtle gradients potentially leading to listing suppression.
As AI becomes a standard part of Amazon content creation, sellers need to understand both the creative opportunities and the increasingly technical compliance requirements that come with it.
