Practicing for Mama’s 80th Birthday Party… THEN She Surprised Me! 💜 #DementiaAwareness

Mama’s 80th birthday party is tomorrow, and we’ve been practicing her dance moves AND her signature so she can personally sign thank-you cards for our VIP guests. 💃✍️

I was joking around, calling myself “Joe Jackson” while getting her ready for the big day — but then something unexpected happened…

A few hours later, completely unprompted, Mama mentioned “a party.” That moment stopped me in my tracks. It’s proof she is still very much in there, and it’s moments like this that make every single effort worth it.

For those of us on the dementia journey, we know how much these little flashes of memory mean. They’re priceless. This is why we celebrate. This is why we give flowers while they can still smell them.

Is it a coincidence? I don't think so. A sign from God? Maybe!

It is my message to enjoy Mama’s big milestone and raising awareness about dementia — because joy and love are powerful medicine. 💜
