She Keeps Me On My Toes 😩 | One Shoe Off, A Happy Birthday & Dementia Care Real Life

I arrived to see Mama and she was already on one — walking around with no shoes on, one shoe in her hand and acting wild. 😩😂 I gave her a snack to calm things down and tried to get her to repeat “Happy Saturday” as a brain exercise… but “Happy Birthday” came out instead — and yes, she sang it.
Then it was time to hit the halls and walk, even though I had just come from an event in heels and I’m dealing with plantar fasciitis. Caregivers don’t get a day off — you adjust and keep moving.
By dinner time, Mama decided to get smart with the nurses and embarrassed me like only she can. You’d think I’d be used to it by now… but I’m not. 😅
This is real-life dementia caregiving — unpredictable, exhausting, funny, and full of love all at the same time. If you’re caring for a parent with dementia or supporting someone who is, just know you are not alone.
